This is a very impressive tour. The art and architecture is superb. The lady at the office where you get the tickets speaks Spanish and not much else. Someone in your group needs to understand the language for the tour.

Came in off-season. Had really nice tour, learned a lot about the wines at this unique small-scale winery within the city walls (in underground tunnels below) La Guardia. Excellent wine tasting too.

Eguren Ugarte is a wine cellar located near Laguardia, one of the most important wine towns in La Rioja Alavesa. We decides to do a guided visit in this wine cellar and it was wonderful. Really, the winery is big and it has some tunnels dug by hands of the current owner, where a lot of wine bottles are kept. Really it is a very noce place. Also, here we learned a lot about the history of wineries in this region and we could taste three different wines (a rosé one and two reds), which were very good. Also, when we finished the guided visit, we went to the bar and we did a brunch with some other glasses of red wine and cured ham. Excellent.

Bodegas Solar de Samaniego are in Laguardia, medieval village in the heart of Rioja Alavesa and integrated in DOCa Rioja. This winery has restored its seventies architecture to become a space for wine and literature cultures, inspired by the Project Beber Entre Lineas (Drink Between the Lines). The monumental artistic intervention of muralist Guido van Helten on its old tanks has turned it into a great tourist attraction in the region.

My 18 year old son who is planning to study architecture insisted that this was a "must see" vineyard. We had a tour here on a sunny day in February, it is a stunning and unique sight. We did a tour of the winery followed by a tasting, both were very interesting and highly informative. My only criticism was that I would have liked the tour to speak a bit more about the actual building. This Calatrava master piece is a sight to behold and we would have liked to know more about the construction.
