After reading several good reviews we ventured into Tunbridge Wells for what we thought would be a good experience. It then went wrong. We arrived a few minutes before our booked time of 7.30 to be told that the only table available was a small one next to the front door; not ideal. Thankfully another couple heard us say that we would go elsewhere as we didnât want to sit where we were put and as they were just leaving offered us their table. Great! It was then that two groups walked in who obviously knew the owner and were offered tables without any booking! We suddenly felt like 2nd class customers! We sat down and after 30 minutes, and despite a couple of promises to see to us soon, we still hadnât been offered a drink or the occasion to order some food. Now then, you might think they were busy but they werenât. Not too busy to take the drink and food orders for the regulars who came in after us without a booking and then deal with two takeaway orders! We decided to leave and offered to pay for the âfreeâ prawn crackers at a cost of £2.75 and money changed hands. It was handed back when another customers look was noticed by the manageress......Sadly, we really wanted to eat there but after the first 30 minute experience felt uncomfortable to do so. We went elsewhere (The Barn) and had a cracking steak dinner for two!

My husband has a cousin in Tunbridge Wells and she was delighted when we bought this corner restaurant just up Calverley road, on the corner by Laura Ashley. It was a bit of a challenge to decorate and one wall ended up with loads of wicker baskets hung u
The only good thing about this place was the staff - adequate service. The food was not authentic Thai....it has been so dumbed down to suit people that have no idea how thai food should taste like. Those that says its good thai food need to get out and travel the world to really taste the difference!I have been to Thailand and the food at this branch was nothing like the real thing.Food here was not spicy or hot at all, not much herbs used, dishes were too sweet that its so unbearable that lime was needed to dilute the sweetness and dips were not freshly made probably mass ready made dips. The branch in wokingham was so much better as it did resemble something like the real thing...think the staff there said chef was thai. Just read the chain has expanded so rapidly now has 32 restaurants...the owners need to spend time ensuring standards are kept!Dear Sophia,I am sorry to hear that your recent visit with us was not up to our usual standards. Can I ask that you contact me directly at [email protected] to allow me to look into this further? Please quote ref 10036 in your response.Kind regards,Simon

Warm, welcoming Fifteenth century pub recently refurbished and now a freehouse, serving fine ales, quality wines and fantastic Thai quisine
First visit to this Historic pub circa 1415. Totally charmed by the character of the pub, which has maintained many original features. It has been lovingly restored both inside and out. Mature woodland gardens featuring a Buddha fountain. The restaurant has a Thai Menu which I was dubious about. I saw the most amazing dishes being served to a busy family friendly pub. I tried a variance on the menu. A new food experience which was a culinary delight. I can smell it now as I type!!! The ambience of the live jazz and the vibrancy of the pub and garden full with young and old. I was made to feel part of the locals and truly felt thier warmth and friendliness. The staff were amazing and it was a pleasure to meet the owner Marc and discuss his vision to only improve this beautiful pub. Dont be a stranger

Visited this week as a foursome. Only us and two ladies on another table all evening. Waitress/Owner maybe, very attentive. Food average really not blown away by the food all very average. I had a chicken Massaman fairly bland. Starters were all good. Maybe chose the wrong main. We're glad you enjoyed our starters, I'm sorry that the main dish you ordered did not satisfy you. I hope you can give us another chance as we would love to recommend some other curry dishes. We appreciate your review.
