Top 5 Steakhouse food in Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom

January 8, 2020 Agatha Simes

Reviews on Steakhouse food in Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. Edinburgh’s neighborhoods developed as the city did. Originally its heart lay in the alleys and cobbled streets of the Old Town, below the castle. Then, in the late-18th century, the residential focus shifted north to a huge planned Georgian New Town. That’s now become the city’s business center, while visitor attractions and nightlife have become fairly evenly shared between these two central districts. Around them, a ring of residential districts now house most of those living in central Edinburgh. Though less good for sightseeing, these neighborhoods are just as busy and typified by thriving restaurant scenes and large parks.

I was totally blown away by the food! My friend and I happened upon this gem when we were in Edinburgh for a girlie overnight stay. Its outside appearance belies what awaits inside. We had the soup of the day - Moroccan veg and chick peas, and crowdie with smoked salmon on oatcakes with a beetroot purée (photo)For main course we had fish and chips and chicken and haggis with a peppercorn sauce (photo). My friend asked if that could be swapped for the whisky sauce and they were only too happy to oblige. Every mouthful was delicious and the presentation was amazing. The portion sizes were spot on - we certainly didn’t leave feeling hungry!Mamma Mia was finishing its run and there were Mamma Mia inspired cocktails. Again, these were delicious and well thought out.The staff were friendly and attentive without being too much. This deserves 5* stars. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys great food, amazing service and reasonable prices.

We paid our second visit to this restaurant a week after the last. There was that dull feeling in the gut that the food, atmosphere and excellent service experienced first time round wouldn't be repeated. But we needn't have worried, all these ingredients were there in spades. My steak last time was the 16 oz rib eye, this time it was the T-Bone - succulent blue, my partner the medium rare 12 oz and this time the sea bass. All perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. Our two friends, there for the first time and therefore the cause of the initial worry about consistency, also enjoyed their steaks and commented favourably on the extensive range available and the extremely friendly and very efficient service provided. Our only concern is that this great restaurant will become so popular that we will have to book increasingly early to be assured of a table, but we will gladly live with that!

Used to be very good but has clearly lost its way. Out of core menu items like slow cooked lamb shank (really?), pub standard grub and over dependence on the microwave. Very disappointing.Dear VHonestJon,Of course it was disappointing for all concerned that your first choice of slow-cooked lamb shank had been sold out by the time you arrived,This is however, a rare occurrence and an unfortunate consequence of a busy restaurant, with a small kitchen, cooking fresh food to order,Its just a shame you allowed that to set the tone for the rest of your evening, and your subsequent poor review, which clearly does not represent most peoples experience of Wildfire.
