The Patounis soap factory is operating since the 19th century without interruption. It still produces pure olive soap, using the same traditional method.
Loved getting a glimpse into the inner workings of this family run business, which has been producing soap since 1850. The free tour at noon was informative and interesting, and we were able to watch some of the processes. Charming, fun and educational - would highly recommend.

"Welcome! Please, come in! The Count will be with you presently. He hopes you will join him and the Countess in the drawing room for tea." This is what you would hear at Casa Parlante, the most alive historical museum in Corfu. A 19th century noble mansion comes to life with stories to tell. In the unique architectural setting of a classical mansion in the historic Old town of Corfu, the everyday life of the island's 19th century nobility is recreated. Through animated figures, using robotic technology, and the perfect reproduction of decor and furnishing, Casa Parlante promises to deliver you a true insight into bygone Corfu. Awakening all your senses, the traditions of the island unfold in front of you, depicting family life in an authentic experience of sights, sounds and smells. Before your eyes the house will come to life... Listen to the children of the family playing music, smell the aromas of the cook's virtuosic cuisine, read the headlines of the Count's newspaper... Casa Parlante is a unique museum: it brings history to life and lets the visitor breathe it in.
Interesting, small, local history museum. Interior in good shape as well as furnitures and objects. Museum uses motorized dummies to animate history. They are not robots, only the head or arm is moving back and forth. The museum tour is always led by the guide. There is possibility to ask questions, which is absolutely nice. This is a little gem of Cofu Town..the price is 5 euro each, and you also receive a glass of rose liqueur and a guided tour of 19th century living...You will enjoy this museum. It's something different from others, it has its uniqueness.

The Music Museum attempts to present in brief the history of the Philharmonic Society of Corfu after almost two centuries of incessant activity (which coincides with some of the most dramatic periods of modern history). Moreover, the Museum honours Nikolaos Halikiopoulos Mantzaros (1795-1872), the Society’s first artistic director (1841-1872), composer –among others– of the Greek national anthem, laborious music teacher and contrapuntist, as well as inspirer of a whole generation of composers that shaped the music of Ionian Islands, and not only, during 19th century. Music Museum «Nikolaos Halikiopoulos Mantzaros» consists of five thematic sections, which present its activities and history: I) Foundation, Administration, Organization. II) Educational activities. III) The concerts. IV) The wind band: Documents and artifacts related to the repertory and the activities of the Society’s wind band. V) The people and their work.

At the top end of the 'Spaniada', Corfu Town's central park area, stands the Palace of St Michael and St George. This is the most significant building from the period of English rule and was originally built as the luxury residence of the then British Lord High Commissioner. It's now home to the Corfu Museum of Asian Art - the only one of its kind in Greece, dedicated to the arts of Asia.
What a gem ! Anyone visiting Corfu is well advised to add display this to their itinerary. It truly was an astonishing experience. It highlights the lifetime collection of a Corfiot diplomat called Gregórius Mános. He spent a lifetime collecting art pieces from assorted asian cultures and returned with it to Corfu. The government has set it up on display in a magnificent building that housed successive councils/governments - it was one of the highlights of our entire trip and is a ‘must visit’ if you get to Corfu.
