Food was tasty and hot - not Tex-Mex, but that is OK for Colorado. Service is generally solid, but they can get very busy. We travel to Estes Park once a year and eat here at least once depending on the length of stay. Recommend it. Burrito and Buffalo tacos were very good. Tea was fresh, beer cold. We're so glad that you enjoyed your experience! Thank you for the review.

Enjoy some of our amazing lunch specials, served with both rice and refried beans. You can't go wrong at El Mex Kal! With a broad selection of margaritas, tequilas, and both Mexican and domestic beers, everyone will find something to love at our bar.
Based on TA reviews, I had high hopes for this place, but we were pretty disappointed. Chips were ok, but on the greasy side. Salsa was not my favorite, but thatâs always pretty subjective. Cheese dip was melted Velveeta. They got my order wrong, but they corrected the error and were nice about it. Beef in taco and enchilada was very flavorful. Chicken flautist was ok. Server was friendly, but she didnât refill my soft drink until she dropped off the check.

We had a group of 8 people and dined at Casa Grande on a Saturday night. They were very good at seating us promptly (we had a reservation), but there was a mix-up on the server assignments so it took a while for anyone to come around to take drink orders, etc. Food was good, albeit a bit pricey, but it's to be expected in Estes Park. All in all, not my first choice for Mexican food, but certainly a good option when visiting Estes Park.

We stopped in for lunch and were seated out on the roof top patio. Itâs not as great as it sounds, because you canât really see much. Our waiter was pretty good. We ordered the guacamole, which they make table side. It was pretty good, and chunky. The rest of our food was ok. Not spicy, but this isnât a Tex-mex restaurant.

Went there for the view which, from the street, looked like it would be awesome but, once there, it was a little underwhelming. From the top:The service was fine, not great but we did not have the issues many others indicated on their reviews. The Margarita was fine as well. We've definitely had better but we've also had worse. Overpriced for what you get but not obscenely.Chips/Salsa - We live in Texas so being charged for Chips and Salsa is sacrilege. It just does not happen. Once we got over the mild shock (like, less than a minute), taste-wise, not bad at all. Each of the three salsas were good as each of us had different favorites.Entrees - Everyone liked what they got. Shredded Beef is not common here in Texas so getting shredded beef chimichungas was a nice benefit. Sides were all goodBottom line is that this is not a "We've got to come back" place but if we are in town again and have the hankering for some Mexican vittles, we'd definitely consider this place. One note for the folks who complained about the climb. I cannot understand what you all expected, nor can I understand the consternation. People go to Estes to hike, and some of those hikes are miles long with elevation gain of thousands of feet. And we're really going to complain about 50 stairs? Anyone going there can plainly see from the street that the restaurant is well above street level. Just crazy.
