Wallace House served as George Washington's winter headquarters during the Revolutionary War's Middlebrook Cantonment. Old Dutch Parsonage was home to Dutch Reformed Church ministers including the founder and first president of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. The State Park Service with the Wallace House and Old Dutch Parsonage Association preserve and interpret these historic houses at Wallace House & Old Dutch Parsonage State Historic Sites.
How could you NOT visit this gem of a site? George Washington didn't just sleep here, he rented here! The curator gives an excellent tour that really makes the history here come to life. Don't miss it!
