Wonderful view of the mountains and Asenovgrad. Large parking right next to the fortress. You can take a walk to the chapel of St. Atanas, for which there is a signpost. Walk along the Roman road, and anyone who wants to continue the walk can reach the river / Lyaskovska river /. Ideal place for relaxation.

This church dates from the 12-13th century and it is located within the fortified grounds of the Asen's Fortress and is also its best preserved structure. The ground floor was designed as a crypt and is nothing special. Some remains of 8 centuries-old murals are on the second floor. There are some info boards as well but in Bulgarian only (guide books and other materials in different languages are available at the ticket booth). The church was destroyed several times in the past, including a destructive earthquake in 1928, but was always restored.
