Z's Catfish is where you will go to find great homemade cooking, and a family oriented atmosphere.
What a great place. Family run [you can tell, and I mean that in a good way], delicious 'home cooking' if your home serves collard greens, red beans and rice, hot water cornbread, and catfish [which is what we had today]. The cornbread was like my grandmother's, the seasoning on the red beans and rice fabulous, and the collards delicious, too. We'll be back soon.

Food was okay not that great nothing I would go back for. Took over an hour and a half before the food was served. A friend Asked the manager why it was taking so long and all she said was âdid someone order the lasagna?â NO ONE ORDERED LASAGNA!

My favorite part? The crab was fresh, not boiled to the point of soggy. The shrimp were large and plump. We order the shrimp cocktail and loved the sweet heat of the cocktail sauce. The dinner salad was big enough for two and perfect with the honey balsamic dressing. Clam chowder was creamy and full of potatoes and clams. Great service, great atmosphere. Thanks for coming in! We are glad to hear you enjoyed your experience and look forward to serving you again in the future.

We were driving to Dallas and wanted to have lunch someplace other than a chain restaurant in Rockwall. So we went to the waterfront area even though it was a cold day with not too much action around the shopping and restaurant areas. Inside, the laidback atmosphere was kinda of fun for a casual lunch and the menu had some authentic Cajun offerings. He opted for the shrimp mac and cheese which was good, but almost too rich of cheesy sauce that he asked me for a mint upon leaving. And the uniquely different chunky cole slaw was without any sweetness of a regular slaw. Edible though. I started with a side salad which was fresh and loaded with good produce. My blackened catfish with a side of etoufee had two nice size filets that were well seasoned and good, but the etoufee was nothing to write home about. If we'd had more time, I would've tried the oysters on the half shell or maybe another appetizer. Unfortunately, we won't go back when given the chance as there are too many dining options to consider one this over the top. Good prices and good service. Maybe a better bar spot with food thrown in.
