Joker

A small but cousy family run business. Very good atmosphere in the middle of an old village. Great Adriatic fish on grill and house wine. Excellent price / performance.

I guess you can take lamb, must be good, but as you are at the sea, take fish! I love places where owner does not recommend most expensive dish, we had mid price fish and fantastic salad.

Very nice restaurant located by the village main square, with a large terrace. The staff is really welcoming and all the dishes are very good/fresh.We enjoyed so much our dinner there that we came back the day after to order pizzas to take away. You can book your table ahead if you want to be seated on a particular location of the terrace.

A short stop. Fast portion of squid on the grill. Food was nothing to praise. Service was not very nice, having had the feeling, not having ordered enogh in the waitors eyes. A good point is the Wi-Fi, which I gladly used for the whole week.

Buffet Osor

One of the reasons we decided to choose this restaurant was that it had a trip advisor sticker on the menu display outside. That sticker suggested some sort of endorsement by trip advisor, which, judging by the other reviews we read later on this website, clearly isn't the case.We asked a local lady which restaurant she recommended in town and she said Buffet Osor was OK but expensive. We looked at the attractive garden and thought, well if it costs a bit more but we have a wonderful dinner it will be money well spent. Little did we know...I like fish and often ask the staff what fish is good that particular day. The waitress in Buffet Osor recommended one that looked great but I had no idea that it'd be in the highest price category or how much I'd end up paying. Given that the same waitress was unable to answer questions about the menu in her restaurant asked by a couple on another table I should have known better than to trust her judgement. The owner strutted around, very sure of himself and his charm. When it came to my main course, he took it upon himself to fillet it for me. He was laughably incompetent. I could've done a much better job myself. I thought I'd left it to an expert but it took him ages and he utterly massacred it. The plate looked terrible and the fish left on it was still full of bones. It was as though he'd never done it before. As he left me to my food he said 'a little olive oil but don't put any lemon on', yet there were slices of lemon around my plate! The big shock was the bill. What they charge is way beyond anything I've ever paid for a main course in my life, and I've been to some fairly nice places. If the food, service and general experience had been out of this world I *might* not have been so upset but at 100 euros for my main course I felt robbed. And it didn't even taste very good. The best thing on the table was the potatoes (which I paid for in addition to my 100-euro fish) and my mum makes great roast potatoes too. It was a million miles from the kind of high-end dining that you might expect for that kind of ridiculous money. As we left, the owner asked me 'was everything all right?'. Other than to say a brief 'yes', I was speechless and we left in silence.Osor is a charming town which attracts plenty of visitors, so I imagine this restaurant will always have enough walk-in customers to keep it going. If you happen to be reading this before you go, please don't go to Buffet Osor. It looks lovely but it's a disgraceful rip-off.
