Castle Cottage is the only restaurant at the top of the steepest street in the world!!. Guinness World Records award 6th June 2019 We have steadily built up a reputation for good food, both locally and with visitors to the area. We source and use as much
Weâve been visiting Castle Cottage for around fifteen years now for overnight and weekend stays, and for the award winning restaurant. Most recently we had dinner in the restaurant at the end of a holiday further along the coast near Porthmadog. In our view there isnât really anywhere like Castle Cottage in the area. The evening started with drinks and canapés in the bar. Loved the local Welsh gin. Spoilt for choice with local produce on the menu from the sea (crab, lobster) and land (lamb, steak), and the deserts made by Glyn. Plenty of decent wine at good prices. Our only complaint is that time flies by too quickly at Castle Cottage. A few hours later and it was time to go ....Hi travellingfrogs! Wow, another top notch review, we are delighted that you love Castle cottage so much, and we are still managing to deliver after all these years. Always a pleasure to serve , can't wait until next time!

We visit Barmouth for the walking festival each year. As it is our wedding anniversaries we usually celebrate with a nice meal. We were not disappointed with any of our 12 choices. I had salmon 3 ways for a starter with asparagus and truffle oil. The poached salmon was warm and it had a tasty sauce with it. The smoked salmon was excellent and the salmon caviar added another flavour and texture. My husband cleared his chicken parfait very quickly. My friend pronounced her mussel starter as wonderful and loved the sauce. Her husband agreed as he helped finish the sauce!! The restaurant served my friend the salmon starter without the truffle oil at her request. My mains rack of lamb was so tasty with a gravy sauce it just melted in my mouth. The chips looked quite pale but they didnât need to be brown to be perfectly cooked and crispy!! We did not have room for dessert. We will be back next year to celebrate our wedding anniversaries!

Overlooking the beautiful and tranquil bay of Borth-y-Gest, the Mooring's Bistro team welcomes you in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Offering an inventive menu, prepared with the freshest local ingredients available, the restaurant is open for breakfa
I very rarely give 5 stars to a restaurant, always finding something which could be improved but not at The Moorings. This restaurant fully deserves 5 stars. We have visited this gem three or four times this summer and each time we have enjoyed excellent food, excellent friendly and efficient service and to top it off the restaurant is in an excellent location. I can thoroughly recommend it.

Best fish and chips we have had in a long time in a well run, clean establishment
Decided to try castle fish and chips in Criccieth after reading reviews. It has been a long time since Iâve had fish and chips this good, brought back memories. The fish was sweet, the batter light, and the chips soft inside and not soggy. Lovely people serving us, we decided to eat in and rest after a walk .

Eaten here several times, we live fairly locally. This time was definitely the worst visit and the last!. Standards are slipping ... dirty menus and tables in a not very busy restaurant. Sloppy service from the supervisor and manager - they didnât seem bothered or motivated at all. We ordered the âChicken Fillet Burgerâ at £12.95 each.... which was considerably overpriced for the portion size and quality. The fries were cold, there were three puny lukewarm chicken strips (does not constitute a fillet burger!) on a freshly defrosted bun. The coating was almost unpalatably over seasoned with thyme. Never going back, left disappointed, hungry and over £30 lighter (once you added £4.40 for a large sparkling water).
