Building doesn't look good from outside.typical, old dirty building by the river.inside, is other story.done with style, old Russian style, sweet. Good borsh though bit too salty, same with pork, add garlic with smetana and it become delicious... bit too oily, but you have to used to it, is Russia :-)

The Belgian-Luxembourg trade mission has been hosted by the local Lukoil subsidiary in this high-class restaurant. The ground level dining room is decorated in an English pub like manner, the banquet room on the second floor a tad more modern. The food typical lower Volga fare was cooked, presented and served to perfection. The variety was equally impressive: river pike caviar cooked with just enough onion, smoked sturgeon, beluga, and catfish, fish soup, fried zander, lamb chops, raw and cooked vegetables and so on.Excellent vodka ice cold, unexpectedly good Bordeaux wine (Haut Maginet)Excellent restaurant for both business and private entertaining

We ordered a bunch of menu items - half of them they didnt have, so we had to change them into something else - food is served as it is ready - we even asked to get our food on the same time, which was not possible as they told. We had 4 different waiters which were a bit confusing. After more than one hour of waiting for my main course, after my wife had finished hers, we decided to pay and leave - we went to the restaurant next door which is far better! At Pryanosti we never get disapointed - both restaurants is owned by the same company which is strange, because there is a HUGE difference in the service.

This place is truly european what is actually hard to find in Astrakhan. The menu is italian but it is better to ask for local fresh fish and other local specialities.

The story behind this old-established patisserie is fun to explore. Local citizens were at the time (late 19th century) shocked by the busty ladies decorating the facade of this building and would have preferred more traditional, Greek-style caryatids. The quality of the chocolates and cakes produced by the Swiss confectioners managed to overcome local opposition and the establishment became very popular. It clearly remains popular to this day and we much enjoyed our cakes (one chocolate truffle cake and one exquisite fruits of the forest tart) and jasmine green tea. A window table is ideal for people watching. This is truly an oasis of peace and elegance on a hot summerâs day.
