This is a very small tea and coffee house, where Tony makes an unbelievable selection of cakes and gateaux. An insider tip, a must visit place for anybody who is in the Bvumba Mountains near Mutare, Zimbabwe
Popped in with colleagues for late afternoon coffee and cake. WOW - what excellent cakes on offer. I had the sticky / gooey and delectable coconut cake. Tony is hands on and the overall experience was excellent. Was the highlight of a trip to the...MoreI'm so glad you all popped in, and took the time to review us... Thank you. The coconut and orange cake has been on the menu for 23 years. I hope to see you again soon. Tony

We stopped at Zimbo's cafe for lunch after business before proceeding onto Harare. We ordered various meals for eight people and the food took a fairly long time to arrive. When it did arrive, all meals were delicious and very reasonably priced. The garden setting is very peaceful and relaxing

Set in the heart of Mutare, this cafe provides more than delicious food at good prices in a garden setting, with its small playground. It has a florist, wire art & a boutique gift shop for its patrons & visitors. It serves espresso coffees, good portioned meals & Deserts. Karen has been operating for the last 7 yrs & has now added home Delivery service called 'Meals on Wheels' for Mutare locals.
I arrived at Karen's and was happy to find free parking inside their lot, as council has turned all free parking spaces to paid parking. My brother and i sat down for a while and waited.....and waited. When we realised noone was coming to serve us we, asked a lady where we have to go to get served, at which she surprisedly asked that we hadnt been served yet, then she came to serve us.
The tables appear to be made from tiles. The artisan who made them has a very poor finishing, and the white plastic chairs were visibly very dirty and stained.
We waited a very long time forour meals and were given our beverages first. My chocolate milkshake came in a very white colour. i informed the waiter that i ordered a chocolate milkshake and not vanilla, at which he replied that it was chocolate flavoured. i tasted and it surely was a vanilla milkshake, my brother tasted it and confirmed it. it was taken back, and a chocolate milkshake came.
when our food did arrive i was grossly disappointed! i had ordered a "deluxe burger and chips" and there was nothing deluxe about the burger, well maybe teh only deluxe item about it was the price. It was a proton roll bought of the shelf, a poorly uneven incomplete slice of raw onion, a slice of tomato and a patty that was not juicy nor dry, not tasty and not fully cooked. It was quite bland to say the least. my brothers coffee milkshake also made a return trip to the kitchen as the order was not as ordered. during my meal, a couple of flies flew into my milkshake. i asked for a replacement and was told i would have to pay for a replacement!! your establishment, your flies but my bill - how sad. The chocolate was dismal too. dry, crumby and the cream, well..... it just did not taste nice.
i was bitterly disappointed

The location of this restaurant is the perfect place for viewing Sunset in the East of Zimbabwe. Seated at the bar or in the lazy chairs of the beautifully arranged restaurant, the yelllow and reddish rays of sunset fills one's eyes and spirit.
The interior decor of the place is one of the best I have seen in Zimbabwe.

117 year old Club located in Mutare with rich history and offering accomodation, bar and restaurant. The club has hosted people like Denzel Washington and Springbok sevens champions of 2007.
Having travelled to Mutare for 20 odd years thought it was time to finally visit this club and it didn't disappoint. Very traditional, lovely fish for dinner and a reasonable selection of wine. Really nice atmosphere well trained staff and a lovely evening spent at the club.
