This was a lunch stop and it was terrific. Service was excellent...very clean and even cloth napkins!

Have you ever gone out for dinner and had a memorable meal simply because your server made you feel special? That's what we got at the Lobster Kettle. The lobsters were good and the location on the water is nice, but the service and attention from our busy server made the meal. Recommend you make a reservation like we did. Even though it was off season and a weekday, it was very busy and most tables were reserved.

We were on a family vacation for a wedding and wanted to plan a few things around the wedding that offered a bit of a different experience. My husband found the Beggars Banquet and made Reservations for a group of us. Although looking at their website prior to dinner, I still was not to sure what to expect. We all changed into our period costumes and we're seated. The host continued to explain the flow of the evening to us as well as mention a lady by the name of Sabine would be checking in on us a bit later. We continued to enjoy our meal when Sabine arrived and changed the entire experience. I have to say that without her the night would not have been the same. Her amazing personality and energy she brought made the Beggars Banquet an amazing experience where irreplaceable family memories were made. Sabine, we will not forget you!! Thank you for taking such good care of my dad.

We ate at Grandchamps for lunch. There are only two restaurants inside the Louisbourg Fortress and this one is for the "lower class" citizens. We decided to eat here because the "upper class" restaurant does not serve a vegetarian option. We were welcomed at the door and seated at a large table with another couple. There are no individual tables for 2-4 people. I am assuming that during this time period, this is how restaurants worked. We were each provided a spoon and an extremely large fabric napkin the size of a flag or pillowcase. The basics are served here... soups, bread, cheeses, fish, mussels and of course, beer. The food was good, the beer was excellent and the experience was very worthwhile. Our server seemed new on the job, but was friendly and attentive. The price was also reasonable considering where we were and the experience we were provided.
