April 26, 2023 Nicolette Lion

The most populous (with 18 million people) and westernmost (bordering Belgium and the Netherlands) of Germany's federal states, North Rhine-Westphalia is one of Europe's most highly industrialized areas, with an impressive 30 cities of more than 100,000. Cologne is the district's biggest city, and the capital is Dusseldorf. Bonn, the former capital of West Germany, is also here. All three are part of the Rhine-Ruhr region of nearly 12 million people, one of Europe's biggest metropolitan areas.

Somewhat disappointed

Reviewed By Mark H

I wanted to write a different review. The staff were friendly and attentive, the hotel clean and attractive, the facilities good, but that's where the positive part ends. If you build a hotel that resembles greenhouse, surely the first thing you install is air conditioning? Rooms were far too hot. And far too light (for us). We booked a suite - not cheap. Apparently in order to have your room made up you needed to inform reception before 12.00. Is this new? Have I missed something that is becoming the new cost-saving standard. So unmade room, insufficient toilet paper, waste bins full. Not good enough for the money. And not clearly enough communicated. We booked half board which included an evening buffet. Somewhat hit and miss in terms of quality. The acoustics in the dining area meant that it was very loud and that conversations across the room were easily heard. Not at all relaxing at meal times. So all in all, somewhat disappointed and probably would not return and cannot heartily recommend.

Great for relaxing and hiking

Very comfortable appartment, spacious, luminous, thoroughly clean, with whirlpool and sauna, kitchen fully equiped, balcony with amazing views. Nice surroundings for hiking. My only complain is that the restaurants at the resort had very little gluten free options.

Great theming, great staff, great location

We had reserved Hotel Matamba, checking in on the 26th of May, but upon arrival that night we were told it was over-booked and offered Hotel Ling Bao instead. A shaky start, but upon checking in at Ling Bao we were impressed with the young woman who greeted us there. She got us checked in quickly and even gave us some fast passes for the attractions at the park. That's excellent customer service. The rooms are a good size- not real big, but certainly not cramped in any way, and good quality furnishings. Comfortable bed, and our 21 year old son enjoyed the bunkbed. The bathroom was nice as well- plenty of room and well appointed. It would be nice if a coffee maker and small fridge had been included in the room, but it certainly isn't a huge issue or enough to detract a star- just be aware of this. The hotel grounds are fantastic. I saw a review that picked at the "authenticity" of the design of the hotel and the grounds. To each their own, but I found it to be very well done and loved the lush vegetation, water features, and lighting in the courtyard area, accompanied by a number of places to sit and relax. The food was good- we had a buffet for both dinner and breakfast. The selection was good and the food, while not gourmet, was good as well. The location, assuming you're going to the park, is perfection. We simply walked out through the courtyard and we were in the park, ready to enjoy our day. And what a great theme park, by the way. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and found the service to be outstanding. Good customer service can be difficult to find these days, but we were quite happy with those we met with at the hotel. We highly recommend staying.

Quiet and friendly

Upon arrival the hotel, in family hands since its opening, appears on first sight a bit "old fashioned" , but the rooms in the new wing are fine with fantastic view and silence. Only a little waterflow can be heard, really excellent. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is fine. In direct neighbourhood skipistes and good restaurants.

Nice place

Reviewed By Morten T

Visited Aqua Magis in a big and quite new cabin for 5 days with 5 persons in my family. The cabins are totally new and the swim center is very nice. If you like water slides on wild side this place is perfect for you. 2 amusement parks in 1 hour drive and a brewery as well. The surroundings looks like Austria with Big mountains - perfect for bike rides and very beautifull. Can only recommend Aqua Magis in Plettenberg Morten Thorup Denmark
