We found it rather by accident - we were going on the highway 52 and got hungry, this one was close enough and looked good. But the food was surprisingly great, we did not expect that at the beginning. The restaurant serves German food but with some Balkan elements (the owner/manager comes from that region). The staff was very friendly and helpful, the interior was very nice. There was also a nice children playground outside, however the wheather made it impossible to benefit from it. I do recommend if you are in the area!!

Suitbertus-Stuben, a cozy brewery restaurant in bavarian style located in a 1492 build half-timbered house
The Suitbertus-Stuben offers a very varied choice of traditional German cooking which is prepared to a high standard. Service is generally friendly and efficient, the atmosphere is friendly and comfortable. The building is one of the very few in Ratingen to have survived the ravages of the 30 Years War and well worth visiting in its own right.

Always crowded with diners during good weather outside with many tables and umbrellas. Have had lunch outside many times and dinner once inside in November.Service inside is fast and the food is tasty. Service outside is slower, but the food still tastes good. German cuisine is on the menu with pork, potatoes and cabbage, wether it be coleslaw or sauerkraut, it's all good! Prices are midrange and they do take credit cards, at least inside...outside, you're better off with cash. Inside we sat on a long table for our party of 6 and had a great time. Will definitely visit again.
Top 5 Grill food in Ratingen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

Somehow, we have only just discovered Simon's event though it is only a very short walk from where we have lived for twenty years. The menu is basically Italian and features all the standards, but there is also a very interesting weekly menu of specials such as game ravioli with sage butter and vegetables, and gurnard (Roter Knurrhahn) with sun dried tomatoes, capers, olives and spaghetti aglio olio. We especially like the "Klein aber fein" menu of small dishes which make an excellent tapas-style dinner. My top recommendation is the charcuterie and cheese platter: accompanied by a bottle of excellent Metzger Duett wine it makes an excellent light dinner.

Down in the basement, this cave like atmosphere features a full bar and friendly staff. Great place for a scotch or other hard cocktail.
