I had two great meals of local, excellently cooked produce. Neat tidy and comfortable room. Great value.

Nothing special here at Bistro 59 inside Oberon RSL. The four of us thought our meals were average. We were visiting Oberon for the Mayfield Gardens. Our meals consisted of pub/club staples of chicken snitzel, steak & pasta. With the pasta dishes you could only have penne or spaghetti as your choice of pasta, why? Its not like it costs a lot to buy dry pasta and store it. Anyway the chicken snitzel was my choice and that was rather overcooked and dry, the side veges were undercooked (quite hard) and were stone cold. Mash was nice. Both steaks were overcooked and tough. It was early on a Thursday night (6pm) and it was not busy at all. Staff were pleasant and friendly. As we experienced very average meals here, I think our next visit to Oberon we'll try one of the pubs in town.

About 3 years ago Chef Edmond left Oberon and went to Berrima to set up his Hungry Hare Restaurant. Sad loss for Oberon who now had no fine dinning experience. Well now he is back! His restaurant operates in the Tourist Hotel and one can enjoy yap as on Friday nights or a set menu on Saturday nights. His food is amazing! Some nights it is French influenced, or Spanish or Italian. Whatever he is cooking you know it is going to be good! I last dined there on 27 November 2018. While the entree was a pasta dish, he did me something special as Iâm gluten free, artichoke hearts and mushrooms - heaven on a plate! Our main meal was glazed ham and stuffed turkey with all the trimmings. I loved the potatoes cooked in duck fat, so yummy. Then we finished off with a dessert of mangoes and strawberries, so refreshing. If you are ever there and he is serving croquettes you are definately in for a treat, they are to die for!Best food in the Central West.
We came here on a motorhome safari for our final night dinner. Food was very good, and was served hot and quickly for our group of 30.
We were a group of 6 and to be honest when we entered I was a little dissappointed it was predominently a chinese menu so let the others choose the dishes we had. Cost us $142 to feed all 6 of us without drink which for what we received was very reasonable. The portions were large enough and the quality of everyone was excellent. I have been very dissappointed with Chinese in many a country town but this was one of the BEST Chinese meals I have had including comparing with Sydney. Their Duck and Crabmeat was different and very tasty the Sang Choi Bow was great and their fried rice big and tasty. Sizzling Beef very very tasy and the Chicken and Cashews with tasty gravy yummy. There was nothing anyone could say was not excellent. The menu also contaned Thai dishes and things like steak ec for those not wanting the Chinese option but I could never ee myself doing that when the Chinese was so great
