In the pretty town of Kawaguchiko under Mt Fuji, this izakaya is special little place with friendly staff, great food and drinks list. Ryan our server, who has escaped from California, was friendly and helpful. The Japanese owner was a sashimi wizard and the other dishes were really good too. Sadly it was closed last night, Monday, so we could only go there for one evening meal. I wish we had a place like this in Australia!

I stopped in for lunch one day based on other Trip Advisor reviews. Not normally something I would do--I didn't travel to Japan to eat American food but what an interesting place! Loads of memorabilia, signs and artefacts from days gone by. It is Japanese-style, take off your shoes and takes a seat on the cushions on the floor. Burgers are home-made as you order them--not pre-packed or pre-formed--beef / pork mixture. The food was good and the service friendly. We found this place by accident on a hot steamy Spring afternoon and ate fabulous strawberry shaved ice after being welcomed in by the friendly staff. We had an hour to fill so we relaxed over our ice and drank tea. The next evening we went back for a tasty fresh dinner. We just wished we had more time (or larger appetites) to try more dishes.The staff were welcoming and friendly and could speak good English. The menu is bilingual which is helpful.Itâs a modern Japanese cafe with a bar and food with private areas if thatâs what you needed.The prices are affordable with a range of dishes to appeal to most pockets. If youâre a good walker this cafe is only 10-15 min walk from the train station and itâs easy to navigate.

We ran into this Bar/Restaurant accidently as we were looking for restaurants near our Hotel (Konansou) and were surprised by the beautiful interiour. The bar was really good and well equipped and the food was awesome (we had Tuna sashima, fried chicken and the home style noodles). It was also quite affordable (around 700 Yen per dish). The bar is open until 3am (which we didn't try).
