Cooks Landing is a small cozy Maine restaurant locally owned and operated with a wide variety of homemade food on our menu and specials that change daily. We are especially proud of our hand tossed pizza which is and always has been our #1 seller. Cooks L
In Edgecomb on route 27 on the way to Boothbay Harbor is Cooks Landing country store. The store is well stocked with sodas , beers etc. I had to stay in the area for a few days and gave breakfast a try, excellent breakfast sandwich, so I tried a meatball sub and then the thin crust pepperoni pizza. All excellent. Much of the food is home made and their are tables in the store and a large screen tv, good for a quick stop for lunch or breakfast or to grab a "to go" sandwich. Wide variety of sandwiches including lobster rolls, a great value!

Stopped in to the WHOP when it first opened (at that time, they didn't even show up on TripAdvisor), and I'm happy to say they're just as good as before. Ingredients are totally fresh, crust is thin, but not wafer thin. Crisp, light, crunchy and chewy. Not sure what reviewer Pam L was thinking, as nothing here says NY (thankfully).

Ok, but well over priced for what is available and then served. We were underwhelmed by it and it's surroundings, so we won't return.
Four of us tried the Penalty Box for breakfast on a Sunday morning. They were not busy but nonetheless were unable to produce even one decent breakfast out of four. My husbandâs pancakes were cold and tasteless, the syrup was served directly from a refrigerator - really ice cold! I had eggs Benedict, the eggs were almost hard boiled not poached, the hash browns were just weird & we wonât even bother to talk about the so-called hollandaise sauce, plus all of it was cold. Our friends both had the eggs & meat dish, also cold! Bacon looked undercooked but I did see a sausage link, which appeared to be OK.I see some positive reviews for their pizza & other lunch/dinner items but our experience was appalling. Itâs unfortunate because Damariscotta has very limited breakfast options so if this place could produce decent, HOT breakfast plates they could be very busy.Service also leaves a lot to be desired. The waitress had to be asked for a coffee refill & emptied the pot into my cup - about 1/3 of the cup. Youâd think sheâd come back with a fresh pot but apparently didnât occur to her until one of the other folks asked for a refill. Definitely wonât go back!
Had the pleasure of waiting in kine for over an hour twice in my life and those are two hours I'll never get back. Everybody that is from away thinks it's great. The battered fried clams are the worst I have ever had. The Lobster Rolls are not the best and way overpriced! The wait is just what you would expect from flatlanders that only read Yankee Magazine and DownEast Magazine, Cross the street and go to Sarah's if you are going to jam up traffic. The food there is more palatable. For better fried clams go back south on Route 1 to the Sea Basket. Sorry Red's you're just a tourist trap. If you were that good there would be boats coming up the Sheepscot River and docking in Wiscasset Harbor....anybody seen any?
