A spectacular trail with three different environments: tablelands, forest and coast. There's a fair amount of up-and-down but nothing too overwhelming. Arriving at the shore and seeing the cliffs and sea stacks was magical.

Walked this trail while visiting Trout River, NL. The trail begins with stairs at the end of the town's boardwalk. From there, the trail runs along top of the cliffs. The hike is in/out and has beautiful vantage points and views back to Trout River. Some treed portions on the trail but mainly walking through grassy areas (no cover). Nice wildflowers along the trail as well. A worthwhile excursion that isn't crowded like some of the Gros Morne NP trails in the area.

Come discover the power of erosion on our Old Man hiking trail. On the upper plateau you will get to meet Trout River’s Old Man, an ancient sea stack located about 400 meters away and 39 meters above the Atlantic Ocean. Explore our scenic coastal Long Range Mountain hiking trail. The Lighthouse trail showcases beautiful geology including rugged cliff plateaus and a spectacular view of the Tableland Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the end of the trail, you will get up close and personal with Trout River’s lighthouse which has been an essential part of the community for years. On this cliff plateau you get stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean and fishermen tending to their traps.

Follow the moose through the mountains and "mishes" as the locals call marshes until you reach the top of a rocky Mountain plateau that gives you an eagle eye view of Chimney Cove Brook.
The Hummock Trail began as a strategic lookout for moose hunters who needed a better view of the bog. It later became a favored spot for locals to sit back, unwind, and take in nature. To the East there is an incredible view of the Tableland Mountains. To the West you can view the Long Range Mountains. One in particular in known to locals as the Elephant's Head Mountain.
