We were staying in Ambergris Cay so visited via water taxi, hooked ourselves up with Bernie, a golf cart “taxi” driver and got an incredible tour of the island. It is much smaller than San Pedro and less developed — we preferred it and if we ever return to Belize, will definitely stay on this island.

The crocodiles, bird watching, unique flora, will astonish and amaze every visit. The Estuary at Caye Caulker offers a unique opportunity to adventure inside this protected area, one of many National Treasures here in Belize. The North Shore Yacht Club, a Guarded , off the grid, community, adjacent to the 100 acre conservation easement.
This should be a must see while on Caye Caulker. Richard’s brother of Richard estuary tours gave us this tour and it is quite educational. The iguanas, and crocodiles are just the beginning since the educational knowledge that is shared about how the various mangroves hold the island together and it all works thru hurricanes and wind .

Great place to spend the day! There is a great bar and grill called The Lazy Lizard that has excellent food and cold drinks. The split is a body of water separating North and South Caye Caulker. It is a great place to snorkel for free. There is a dock for sun bathing and easy access to the water. There is also a fishing area for those that want to try their luck. Kayaks and paddle boards are available for rent.
Not a ton of great beaches on Caye Caulker so the split is an excellent place to just chill out. Lots of chairs and lounges, a high dive platform and an enclosed, little lagoon with some tables in the water give for many options of relaxing here. Plenty of places to grab a bite, a beer or a cocktail and also a great place to watch either the boats passing by or the sunset.
