About a 1.5 mile hike, off the beaten path hidden within the Bankhead National Forest is a hidden waterfall along Caney Creek! It is not an easy find, but so worth the walk! Be prepared to play under the waterfall

Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site

Site where African-American pilots trained to become the renowned Tuskegee Airmen during World War II.

National Park Service, USA, I love! The original hangar, airfield, watch tower, command centers in tact, what a great way to learn about flight, trainings, the segregation of Afro-Americans and the discrimination they continued to face as officers in the US military. Ranger talks offered, personal accounts can be heard thru various exhibits. Allow at least 2-3 hours to visit. Small gift shop with great items ! Everyone very informative, and the exhibit is FREE!

Russell Cave National Monument

Took my husband and three of my children (ages 12,10,and 2). The visitor center is nice and clean with a small museum and video about the cave. There is also a bathroom I didn't mind my toddler using :) you can pick how difficult your trip to the cave is by staying on the boardwalk for the entirety and go straight to the cave in about 5 minutes, or veer off on the nature trail for some food inclines and great views of the mountain. We saw a family of deer while out. Plus its free!!
