Located on the campus of Northwestern Michigan College, the Dennos Museum Center offers an ongoing array of changing exhibits in the arts and sciences. The museum holds and exhibits one of the largest and most historically complete collections of stone sculpture, prints and drawings by the Inuit artists of the Canadian Arctic, in the United States. Its hands-on Discover Gallery features interactive engagement with the arts and sciences. The museum produces a concert series of blues, jazz and world music and other entertainment forms each year from September to May in the center’s 367 seat Milliken Auditorium and hosts performances by other community groups throughout the year.
The galleries and store are nice. The concerts are our favorite there. The acoustics and lighting are great, but our favorite thing about this venue is the seating. The rows are far enough apart if you feel the need to shake a little more than your head....you can!

The Music House Museum is located on US31 just north of Traverse City, Michigan. Now in their 30th year, the museum presents one of the most unique music museums in America. Ninety-minute tours demonstrate fully-restored mechanical instruments dating from 1870 to 1930.Guest will also see Models of buildings from Traverse City 1930’s era. Music boxes of all sizes, a mechanical street organ, one of largest dance organs built in Belgium in 1922 , Weber Duo-Art reproducing grand piano,1924 Wurlitzer theater organ used to accompany silent films.
We were floored by the amazing mechanical instruments at this museum. Many types of player pianos, jukeboxes, Nickelodeons, a Wurlitzer theatre organ and an amazing 18 ft tall x 30 ft wide hand carved Mortier Dance organ. Definitely participate in the guided tour, where many of the instruments are demonstrated. You will be amazed at the beautiful music created by these automated instruments. I was floored to hear such intricate music played from holes punched in a roll of paper!

This museum is incredible! I lived up north for 20 years and never went but after I moved and went back up north for a visit we all decided to go museum hopping!! Let me tell you!!!! This place is incredible. My daughter is a beautiful city girl but wow the impact of this great museum was exciting. The scenes that are set puts you right with the animals in their own environments with a slice of fun as the post questions, “find the ....”, so it becomes a fun competition too. Great fun and the gift store has many rustic items to choose from!!! Love it!! It is a must stop! Of course I purchased the toddler pink mocisins for my adorable grandbaby!!
