Just two hours north of London by rail, the city of York holds 1900 years' worth of history in its ancient walls. The Romans built the city in 71 AD, and the Vikings captured it in 866 AD. Stop by the Yorkshire Museum and Gardens for a look at what the Roman and Vikings left behind (they must have packed light when they left). From there, move on to the York Castle Museum for a not-so-quick overview of the most recent 400 years.

Excellent evening with my son and fiancé, had come up from Barnstaple, North Devon for Christmas. Boxing day evening, we sat at a table on the ground floor easy access. comfortable nice atmosphere and a bar. We had a meal, myself a chilli tasty that had a bit of a bite, with a local dark beer. My son had membership, bought tickets, food and drinks so able to get discount on whole amount, very good value. Took a plastic glass of water with us to the cinema, watched the film The Last Jedi, two and a half hours but very comfortable and not conscious of the time. Already looking forward to Christmas 2018.

A unique experience, Everyman Cinemas is an independent network of boutique cinemas. With a passion for quality, from service of food and drink to seating and films, every cinema also has a unique bar or foyer space. Roman Polanski once remarked that "Cinema should make you forget you are sitting in a theatre", our cinemas do just that, they create a truly memorable experience.

Great refurbishment and low ticket prices make a family outing completely affordable. All the seats now recline and make it even more of an experience. Easy parking as well which puts it ahead of any of its rivals. Like all cinemas the food is pricey but that's part of the revenue model that keeps these places running. And here's a thing, my daughter dropped £5 after buying her popcorn but didn't notice until after the film. When she asked one of the staff they produced the £5, having found it earlier. That 5 stars right there :-)
Film at the Folk Hall is an independent community-led cinema located in a historic building in the City of York. We offer a unique viewing environment within the beautiful Folk Hall, with state of the art blackout blinds, cafe and bar facilities. We're easily located on the main road that runs through New Earswick, just 2 miles north of York city centre. There is a large free car park.
