Colombo is the gateway to Sri Lanka for most travelers—but don’t be tempted to simply pass through this diverse and interesting city. Take a train ride along the coast to Mount Lavinia, a popular beach, or explore the Talangama Wetland, which several TripAdvisor travelers say is the perfect place to take a break from the bustling streets of the city.

Liberty by Scope Cinemas is a newly renovated cinema that is revolutionizing the movie watching experience. Liberty provides a luxury experience for movie-lovers who want to experience the latest movies on the big screen.
We're in Sri Lanka for 7 weeks and decided to visit here for some home comforts. The cinema is far superior than any of those I have visited in the UK. The staff were all very friendly and tickets in the daytime cost 550lkr, rising to around 750 in the evening. There's a good selection of snacks including popcorn, hotdogs and soft drinks or beer/cider; all are reasonably priced. It was extremely clean and the seats were very comfy, all of which recline. The projection was of good quality and the sound system was also very good. There is an AC system that if anything was working a little too well. There is only one large screen and one small screen with 4 or so films showing on a day, so I would suggest searching for the showings on Liberty Screen 01 and 02 before going. The cinema is also well placed within Colombo, with the Liberty Mall across the road, which includes the very nice Uptown department store, Levi and a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. I would highly recommend a visit if you're a film lover. We made a day trip from Galle to watch Spiderman and Baby Driver, and it was well worth the journey.
