The Free State of Thuringia (English: /θəˈrɪndʒiə/; German: Freistaat Thüringen, pronounced [ˈfʁaɪʃtaːt ˈtyːʁɪŋən]) is a federal state in central Germany. Most of Thuringia is within the watershed of the Saale, a left tributary of the Elbe. The capital is Erfurt.
