Went there at 7 pm on a Sunday and we got turned away cause they were closed. Even though their hours outside said they were open until 8.
This place was highly recommended: good thing, because had I just been passing by, I would have kept on going! It is a rather run-down place, hidden behind some office buildings. When you look in the window, there's nothing that would beckon you in. HOWEVER, the service was excellent, and I had one of the best chili rellenos I've ever had! They also have an amazing salsa bar: I love heat, and this is the first place I've ever eaten where one of the salsas was even too hot for me! I LOVED it!Yes, it's beat up, not the cleanest and weirdly configured, but DON'T be put off by all that; just order and enjoy some great food. I wish it were closer to home...
This would be called a strip mall dive if you only go by its appearance, but the food is genuine, inexpensive, and authentic. The proprietor and service are friendly. The room is basic, clean and has the atmosphere of actually being in Mexico. When driving from the I-5 from Williams to Calistoga (the back way to the Napa Valley from the north), Clearwater is the only place to stop for lunch.I stopped for lunch one hot afternoon and got more than I expected.

We stopped here on our way to Fort Bragg. Itâs one of the better places as you travel along route 20. It was a clean restaurant with a lot of tables. The food was decent. The service was excellent. They had a pretty good burger and veggie burger. Fries were super good. Neat little place to stop. All in all itâs just a simple restaurant with lots of good options. Best place to stop before or after you pass the lake.
