There is some confusion about the address of this excellent restaurant -- in fact it is 906 W. Robertson Street, Brandon, FL 33511. But that is the only problem with this place -- the lasagna and chicken parmesan that my wife and I had were both superb, big portions, well cooked, tasty, and the servers were a joy to watch as they effortlessly served all tables quickly and efficiently, without hovering. We would certainly go back if we were in the area again.

It had been several years since we last went to the Acropolis here in Riverview (south Brandon). It was my wife's birthday, and I knew she would like to go there, so I surprised her with a reservation for 4 on a Wednesday evening at 6:15p.They were not busy, and we were promptly seated. We started with what I though was going to be regular stuffed mushrooms along with their delicious bread for an appetizer. The mushrooms instead were stuffed inside a round cheese ball that was then baked. Very interesting and tasty, but very filling! We each had a different plate: Greek meatballs, Chicken Rhodes with roasted veggies and olives, Eggplant Salad that looked delicious, and their evening special, Salmon Mantari served with pasta. As it was my wife's birthday, they brought out a round chocolate dessert, that was eaten up so quickly I did not get a chance to take a picture of it. But they did sing happy birthday to her and through napkins! Our bill, including wine, came to $91, or just over $20 per person.

This is a cafe' sort of place that serves lunch, brunch and has cooking classes and private events. It also has a retail area with fun and unusual cooking/kitchen items to purchase. It is owned by a chef from Italy but more than Italian food is served here. The menu item changes daily and there is only one item. No choices. Lunch is from 11 am - 2 pm Monday thru Friday. The tables are mismatched and the atmosphere is one of a village café or neighborhood restaurant in Southern Europe. It works - sort of décor Old World meets America mismatch. The day my friend and I went the lunch item was Chicken Tangine. I did not care what was for lunch as I knew it would be good (you can check the facebook page I am told or just call). I had taken two cooking classes with this chef in the past few years at another venue (Rolling Pin in Brandon - excellent cooking classes and retail store only), and trusted whatever was being dished up. The dish had lots of meat, fruit, nuts and a sauce to die for. No bread was served which was just as well for my waist and I really did want to lick my plate. Dessert is included and it was another plate licker. Orange and Olive Oil Cake. The slice is not huge - just right for after lunch, and it too was very European Torte-like. A sprinkling of powdered sugar was on the top. Wine, hot and cold tea, bottled or tap water is available. My itea was fresh, flavorful and tasty. Our meal was $11.95 and worth every penny. Wish all my meal were this wonderful.

We enjoy eating at Genghis when we are in town. The food is good and filling and itâs nice to personalize your dish to your own taste. My complaint is with the service, we visited during a slower part of the day and yet only saw our waitress a couple times. We could see her at the bar eating, but couldnât get her attention for anything like refills or soy.I hope this is not the case with everyone who works there and it was just our bad luck.I would recommend for the food, but if the service is that poor during a slow time I would avoid for sure if itâs busy.Hushmonkey, we regret to hear that you had this experience with us.
