I have stayed here a few times. The owner is an ex English teacher so language is no problem. Her husband is a local police officer based in the police station beside the resort so the place is nearly always guarded. The rooms are basic but very clean with ensuite bathroom, air conditioning and tea making facilities. There is no cafe or restaurant onsite but the owner told me she would send out for food if I wanted. The office does sell cold beer & soft drinks. The place is very quiet and tranquil with great balcony views of the jungle which is on their doorstep. The place can get very busy at weekends as the Thais descend on Sangkhlaburi most weekends and accommodation becomes scarce so it’s best to book. I was able to get a reduced rate for a lengthy stay which the owner later reduced a second time to below half price.

First off, this hotel was a bit difficult to find. Address listed in Agoda is cut off, listing only the city, and TA's location is way off, miles away. Outside there is a Thai scrip sign only, and nobody around speaks English. The way I found it was to copy the Thai script hotel name from Agoda and paste it into the search bar for Maps. Watch for the hotel by my photo of the front of the building. Booked a standard double bed room, clean and cute little room with TV (Thai shopping channel), large stiff bed, bedside table, and chairs. No fridge. Only one power point in the room. Tiny but functional bathroom and an odd little attached sitting room, which is where the sink is located. Car park holds just 3 cars, but people do park on the narrow street. Wifi was strong, a nice change, as my last 2 stops had none. Location is good, a few blocks from town center (easy walk), and 800 meters up the hill from the wooden bridge. Recommend walking to town for dinner at the night market. Nice variety of food and a chance to mingle with the local residents. Nice surprise - although the room did not come with free breakfast, they did set out fried eggs and fruit in the morning. Overall I felt that at $30 the room was overpriced. Nothing wrong with the room at all, just wasn't a typical $30 room for this province.

Place is strangely done: no fence or any kind of wall separating the "guesthouse" from local houses. Rooms are ok, have kettle & fridge. But there is NO STAFF! It took as more than half an hour to explain to the "staff" over the phone that we arrived & need to check in. And then one of the neighbours brought us the key for the room, she also took money from us. Needless to say that there was no receipt or anything like it. Overall, not bad, but better places can be found for a cheaper price & with better service.
