I'd travel to Wenatchee in the dead of winter without snow tires JUST for these homemade pupusas. A grandmother is on the premises slapping the pupusas together (stuffed corn tortillas) to order. They arrive with special pupusa sauce, a mild salsa. There's also a bottle of the very hot stuff but it comes with a warning. It's very hot but not a lot of flavor. The pupusas are deeply flavorful, especially with the pork and cheese the way I ordered mine. Each one is around $2, but for a meal, go with three. They are accompanied by a small pickled cabbage and carrot (I think) salad.A delightful surprise was the fresh juices â orange, carrot, or both. I went with both, wishing it was colder. When I ordered empanadas stuffed with a sweet milk, I was told they were out. So I ordered a beef "stew" plate that comes with refried beans and rice, as well as thick unstuffed corn tortillas and a small foil full of chopped onion and cilantro â to go â for later. It, too, was very flavorful. It's just beef, fall-apart tender in a little beef sauce. The only downside was when a couple large parties arrived back to back. There's only one server who tends to everyone in the small dining room. She was very attentive when I arrived. But forgot about me as soon as the three families came in behind me, demanding her total attention. This place is cash-only, but worth it. Prices are ridiculously reasonable.

South is a lively family friendly restaurant and bar with two locations, Wenatchee and Leavenworth Washington. We specialize in modern Latin food and drinks. Everything is fresh and homemade including our cocktail mixes. Our ambiance is a mix of antique a
Great food and fast friendly service. Staff was personable and attentive. Everyone enjoyed their meal ( Baja tacos and taco salad were delicious with lots of flavor). and enjoyed the self serve salsa bar. The only downside was there were no free chips and salsa as a starter and the portions were a bit on small side. Also, we were there on a Wednesday night so not super busy, not sure how it would be if crowded? An added plus is it is located in Pybus Market which is always fun to walk around. We will definitely come back again.I am so glad you enjoyed your experience at South! The Baja fish tacos are definitely a customer favorite. We use only the freshest ingredients and make our chips in house using fresh, non GMO, gluten free tortillas. So that's why we charge for chips, but do offer the free salsa bar. Be sure to come back on a Tuesday for half off all tequila, for tequila Tuesday! We look forward to serving you again.

Portions are appropriate for pricing, guacamole is indeed fresh at they make it at the table, the dessert menu has something for everyone. The wait staff are full of smiles and the Pepsi tastes like Pepsi and not brown water as with other restaurants. The only thing I would change is make the salsa thicker, couldn't keep it on my chip. Would recommend to anyone!

First time to try this restaurant as we have a plethora of good Mexican style restaurants in our city. The service was very good, prices for drinks about standard. The food arrived promptly and all orders were correct. I had chili relleno and it was tasty, with rice and beans. The rellano itself was smaller that others I have had but had good flavor. Dishes were prepared with thoughtfully and had good eye appeal. All in all a good experience. Nothing fancy about the building itself.

Living in Australia, it's really hard to find authentic Mexican food. This place is the real deal. I ate tamales, enchiladas, basically as much food as my stomach will allow. The decor and service is non-traditional, but the food makes up for it.
