If you are looking for Japanese dining in Berlin this might not be your first choice. Perhaps it should be. We stayed at the excellent IBB Blue Hotel next to Schoenefeld airport; from there this restaurant is a 10 minute walk. Frankly we weren't expecting much. As it turned out we were pleasantly surprised. On the two days we went the staff was friendly and helpful, the sushi was tasty, the soups were wholesome and the price was competitive. On an aside note, the toilets were immaculately clean, which I always find reassuring. All in all this is a good evening out. Well done.

We visited this small restaurant on my bd , my husband reserved us a Japanese table ( you need to get off shoes) we ordered mix sushi for 2 ( was very tasty) , the prices are fair and not pricy like other sushi places , If you come before 17 you have discount prices on the menu , If you matcha fan like me , try their Eis you get 2 balls of ice cream ( matcha , sesame) it was delicious , For mix sushi plate , another 8 pcs of sushi , mix of meat , 2 glasses of wine and desert we paid 38 euro and we had final fantasy orchestra music in the background , Fantastic visit

KUMAMI is Gastronomie and Aterier.
I have been away from Tokyo for too long but Kumami reminds me of REAL Japanese (Kyoto, therefore each dish is small and delicate) cuisine. Absolutely top recommendation.Yes it is not some place you can easily visit. It is in Köpenik, south east of Berlin. But if you have a chance to go Köpenik, please try (but you need to book in advance as they take only 10 persons a day). It is a course menu and excluding drink it is about 50 Euros. But If I can eat that quality of Japanese food the price is a bargain. Sake is very well chosen and enjoyable. Interior is done by the chef, who is amazingly an architect. A quiet jazz in the restaurant also reminds me of restaurants in Tokyo. Each dish comes slowly and you can feel that the chef takes care of each dish so well. With good food and quiet atmosphere I hope you can enjoy the fulfilling dinner like I do. (yes it is a quiet place, so smaller group is better, I think)
Mr. Wu stands for a fresh mix of flavorful and healthy foods. You can taste selected dishes of the diverse cuisine of Asia. The open-plan show kitchen, the modern design of our high-quality restaurant and our cozy terrace offer a relaxed atmosphere. You w
This is an all-you-can-eat establishment with a good-size variety tasty dishes. It is clear that they are freshly made. I have been to several of such buffet restaurants with a greater diversity of dishes but this one is one of the best.

Yes, that's what I did. I was missing asian food, and decided to drop into this small place on the outskirts of Berlin. Not fancy, not pretentious, just good food. I was surprised and delighted. The sushi we order was fresh and delicious. It was quiet and comfortable. Not sure I'll get back to Koepenick, but if I do, I would definitely go back!
