Johnny Carino's is at heart, Italian. But we're also uniquely American. Simply put, we are "Americano Italiano." Introducing Johnny's Italian American Tavern to our friends in Modesto, CA. We are your neighborhood authentic Italian restaurant coupled with
My husband and myself went here after going shopping at the mall. Greeted and was seated with no issues. Waitress came over placed our order which also included an appetizer ... After 20 minutes I had commented to my husband that it was a long time and everyone else had their food. And here comes our main course. Asked the person where was our appetizer. She had no idea And just told her to just cancel it... Managed did come over to talk to us and offered it free we did not want it since it was calamari... Does not taste good reheated. He also gave a dessert card for the next time we came in.got the food and mine tasted terrible.. The Alfredo sauce tasted like it was from a can. Still waiting for my refill of soda!!! only saw the waitresses twice . Manager did not charge for the food... Basically ate bread and butter for dinner ...went to in and out on the way home

We visited this restaurant while visiting family in the area. It is a small place dimly lit and with old style decor. The staff were very friendly, efficient and professional. The menu very Italian but that is where it stops. The food served very hot timely but lacked any real flavor. I am a spaghetti lover and the sauce was not flavorful at all. I make more flavorful sauce at home. Others in our party had various lasagnas and the same story with there entries a lack of real Italian spark. All in all not worth going back to sadly as the staff were very friendly and efficient.

Consistently delicious food is never an issue, but our recent visit was enhanced by our amazing waitress, Laura. We had the salad, and then more salad - can't get enough of that amazing dressing - with the "create your own pasta bowl," with corkscrew pasta, pesto sauce, and grilled chicken. We both agreed that the pasta dish was one of the best we've ever tasted and we now have a new favorite. Can't wait for our next visit to Modesto.
Well, since this is a new pizza establishment at the Mall I thought I would try it. It is very industrial. Lots of chrome, heat ducts, cement floors kind of neat. The one thing that surprised me was, serve yourself! Get your own plates, knives, forks, napkins and water. Get a number and they will bring your food to the table after you order at the counter. Very much like most pizza places, except no video games, no news or sports on TV. Why this type of service surprised me is I felt I was lead to believe it was upscale not like all the other pizza places.Food was ok but for the price, I will go to the other pizza places. Staff was friendly but not helpful at all.
Since I have moved to Modesto, the pizza I have ordered from here has been consistently hot, good, plentiful and on time for delivery. I have ordered at least 5 times and have not been disappointed.
