I am Italian, this was our go to place in Welly. In the last couple of years it has gone downhill, the food claims to be Italian but the food is of sub standard and the service is slow, not great with children.Hi Chiara, You came on the 2nd of June to celebrate Italian National Day. La Bella Italia was full of children on that evening. We are renowned for being excellent with children. That night Lilian, one of our best waitresses, attended your table. We get so many compliments from customers regarding her manner with everyone, especially with children. You came in around 5.30pm and left at 7.15pm. We had 140 people booked plus walk in customers. In the last two years La Bella Italia has received a number of awards for the authenticity of the food and the experience we offer. When the staff who was on that night read your review, they were quite saddened as they remembered you fondly - how you greeted them at arrival and leaving. At the till you were asked if everything was okay and you did not say anything to the contrary.To finish: You are Italian, we are Italians too and we work hard everyday to offer a true Italian experience to everyone who walks through our door. We are very proud of the authenticity La Bella Italia is known for.

I have been to this bistro more than a dozen times and this was my first below par dining experience. We both had the calamari which disappointed. Rather than rings with a light coating, their offering was heavily crumbed and in small pieces. Sadly the crumbing over-powered the calamari and the crumbing seemed to be saturated in the oil it had been cooked in To their credit the restaurant did not charge us for one of the two Calamari dishes, which neither myself of my dinning companion finished - try as we might. Otherwise great pasta, average Wellington burger on a plate offering and good wine.

Met up with a friend in Hutt City. 6 pm.. Dinner time.. I was peckish, late lunch, We were standing outside Giuseppeâs..I asked .. wanna try a pizza?Reply, why not!!Entered, seated, 5 other diners.. ordered 2 pizzas.. salmon and pickled tomatoes, with Marscarpone.Pizza arrived.. thin, slight scorched edges and bubbles.12 thin pieces of smoked salmon( looked like 6 slices torn in half) scattered in a circle, alongside 8 small pickled cherry tomatoes,.6 dollops of melted mascarpone scattered also in a circle.. the pizza looked kinda sparse for $23.50 each!!!! Tasted of cooked. dough with Some little smoked salmon, and mascarpone.( cheese onion toast ?)We were talking and eating, and didnât realize that we had eaten the 2 pizzas, and we were still hungry! And the pizza was a meal???Didnât want another pizza, MacDs across the road didnât excite.. So asked mate, fancy some fresh fried once cooked oysters??Answer.. you pay.. We had dinner here last week with our two kids. Manager was standoffish and rude when we arrived just before 5 and asked if the kitchen was open, the restaurant was completely empty but she wasn't that obliging and had to check with the kitchen, was pretty rude when we paid as well, maybe just needs a lesson or two in customer service?! The other wait staff were fantastic and really accommodating, food was very yummy and fresh, portions were a little bit small though and we thought $10 for a small bowl of chips for the kids was a bit steep. I bought a pizza and curly fries from here for dinner for me and my son. The staff there were so friendly and welcoming. It is a family run restaurant and so lovely to see how well it works. The pizza was the best pizza Iâve tasted since I went to Naples in Italy. You must try it!! I had the mushroom pizza. Amazing.
