This was my second visit to Mayur. The last was four years ago and the food remains excellent. Unlike the usually purely Punjabi fare in most Indian restaurants, Mayur has a range of cuisines from North and South India. Everything was well prepared. The fried starter snacks were perfectly done, wonderfully crispy and not at all greasy. Clearly the oil was the right temperature. Spice combinations were well balanced and the dishes were burdened neither by the excess ghee or chili that is often used in other places and that suppresses flavour. The prices are moderate and so represent very good value. Service is prompt, friendly and knowledgable and our food came fast even though it is prepared to order rather than waiting in the kitchen in pre-prepared pots or flavour sucking steam tables. The place is well set up to accommodate groups up to ten or so and is quiet enough to allow conversation. I left with the inner smile that tells me the food was made with some love and some joy in cooking. I'll be back for sure on a future visit to Taipei.

We booked at 7:45pm but got our table only at 8:15 and made to sit outside in the cold. The waiter mentioned buy 1 beer to get another one free, but not the Like Facebook part, of which they charged us for the additional beer order.

We had an excellent meal at this restaurant, the manager was a great host and the service was very good. The food was even better, we ordered a mix of chicken and vegetarian dishes, but the vegetarian ones really stood out, my favourite was the Paneer Kadai which was outstanding. I would highly recommend.

This restaurant generates enthusiastic reviews thus as someone who spent several years in India I was curious to find out if the cuisine matched the hype. Unfortunately my lunch visit did not leave me in an enthusiastic mood. I ordered the lamb curry entree. I was asked several times if I was OK with spicy and settled on "medium" and the dish was appropriately spiced. The lamb was tasty but the curry portion was quite small. It came with a small salad covered with corn (!) and had some type of dressing on it and I didn't touch that. I had asked for garlic naan (as naan was included) but initially told I could only have garlic naan. Finally I was told the chef would make a batch of garlic naan which was hot and tasty. The set came with a beverage and I ordered hot tea. But it was 'chai' which I can't drink (lactose intolerance) and then informed I could not get straight black tea. I was also offered a rice pudding dessert which I decided to pass. Perhaps I am too fickle of a customer for the lunch special here. I realized my mistake was not ordering a la carte which although more expensive would have suited me better.

I was not expecting such and authntic and nice Indian food in Taiwan as not many Indian tourist goes to Taiwan for holiday. But to my surprise the food was much better then my expectations. I travel quite a lot in Asia and I can safely say that the food is as good if not better, as in the coutries with big Indian population. Will surely be back next time.
