Energized by a passion for serving and a love of Indian cuisine, Chaat Bhavan - El Camino is more than a restaurant -- it's a way of life. Specializing in northern and southern Indian delicacies, we have over 70 dishes on our menu with an emphasis on vege
We went for lunch on a weekend and got seated quickly. We liked the wide choice of vegetarian dishes. Two of us had thalis while another two ordered other items. All of us liked the taste of the food. The service was also good. The ambience was better than another Indian restaurant we went to in Sunnyvale. The pricing was reasonable. Happy with the visit. Thanks for stopping in! It's wonderful to hear your lunch hit the spot. Thanks so much for the compliments, and we can't wait to have you back again.Till then,Team at Chaat Bhavan

I carry delightful dining experiences from earlier visits to Amber India at Santa Clara (later closed) & Mountain View. So I was wholly unprepared for the let down at Santana Row.The bar at the entrance has no bartender ! The disappointing âwine listâ does not offer even a simple Bloody Mary !The seating is the most cramped I have seen anywhere - a seated dinerâs chair touches the chair of a seated diner at the table behind. So if a diner needs to get up, he has to request the diner at the table behind to squeeze more into his table to make room for simply standing up ! Each time someone from our table of 4 wanted to refill his/her plate, all 4 of us had to pile out into the aisle ! Ughh !!The spread at the buffet table clearly lacked imagination or even commonsense. The roti / naan was paired with sambar, not Dal tadka or Dal maharani ! Even a simple aloo mutter had a sweetish flavour drowning the taste of both aloo & mutter. The mutton preparation left one chewing the tough mutton with no end in sight. The choice of dessert was reasonable with jalebis prepared creditably. Clearly a saving grace.Amber India at Santana Row is clearly not the choice for a reasonable dining experience.

This place have not much variety of dishes in the buffet but whatever is there available that's really good, specially.... Tandoori Chicken. It's like the best tandoori chicken anyone can have in the buffet. They also have butter chicken which is good too and 2-3 vegetarian option which are decent too. So If someone likes to eat Tandoori chicken... this is the place to go!!!

Visited both branches in San Jose, CA at Santa Clara and in Sunnyvale. Sunnyvale is a bigger one with large car park and Santa Clara one is small, by all standards. Food is the same. Good for both lunch and dinner. Vegetarian or Non-Veg..authentic South Indian Tamil Nadu cuisine..wide range and friendly bearers..free Tamil monthly magazine copies purchased and kept for customers to take away..spice part has to be told as mild or medium or hot..otherwise Aappam is heavenly..

Great place for a Gujurathi vegetarian Thali meal (they have Thali meals only, no a-la-carte). Plenty of items in the Thali from appetizers like Dhokla, Samosa, Masala Poori and Roti with plenty of veggie dishes and good number of desserts. The servers are always coming around to the table to refill anything you want. And ask for meetha pan at the end. Kids under 5 eat free. The undhiyu is great and the shrikand was amazing. The parking is a little tight and so is the waiting area since the place is small - so weekends can get pretty crowded.
