Coming from a home location where we have an excellent standard of Indian restaurants, I am used to high standards. I visited Rajasthan Villa in Toulouse for dinner, hoping for a tasty and interesting alternative to the normal French regional cuisine. First impressions were mixed - the ceiling is lavishly decorated and sculpted but the restaurant was dark and rather "lived in". Not much of an atmosphere, and some prospective customers came in then left without ordering.I ordered a vegetarian thali which was filling and surprisingly very spicy, but a bit one-dimensional (all the items seemed to taste the same with a strong chilli flavour). My starter of onion bhaji was stodgy and not a patch on the one my local curry house in the UK does.

The staff is very kind and you feel welcomed, I have been going for more than 5 years every time I was craving Indian food and I still love it. You cannot find kinder than the waiter and the staff is very accommodating: in December, we called during the afternoon to hold a party of 30 persons the same evening and they did everything possible to make sure that everyone would be happy. A lot of my family's friends said that they will come back and I sure will!

I had taken my American colleague to this place. It is too crowded and the entire crowd is from Airbus. As we were only two, they made seat adjustments and were able to take us in. Food was mild, good and tasty.

This recent (2018) renewed restaurant may not be situated in the crowded center of Toulouse, but it's worth the effort of a short walk. Otherwise: park your car in parking garage Saint-Aubin and walk only a few minutes :). We were very well advised when we asked for the specialties this restaurant offers. My wife had a lamb dish (agneau achari) and I enjoyed the chicken 'poulet moghlai biryani'. The biryani dishes are well spiced and very tasteful. You could compare it with 'fried rice' in the Thai kitchen and you can order it with lamb, beef or chicken. The portion was so big that we did not need to order extra rice with the lamb achari dish of my wife. We did order one portion of garlic naan extra, which was superb as well. For lunch you might also just order the menu of three courses for less than ⬠20,--. We are convinced that all dishes will be of the same high quality. The service is perfect and many languages are spoken. We were amazed to find only two other guests for lunch in this cosy small restaurant. Just walk in and try it yourself. Tell the waiter what you prefer and he will find the perfect match of delicious Indian food for you!
