A UNIQUE AND EXCLUSIVE PLACE TO REST We are located 90 kilometer (56 miles) away from Quito, in San Miguel de los Bancos, surrounded by one of the last remaining forests of the biological corridor of the Chocó. Its overwhelming landscape welcomes more than 250 species of birds, 200 species of orchids and an amazing amount of butterflies and bromeliads. Kapari is located in a special place over the cliff of Río Blanco, a biological corridor full of nature with a mountain, valley and river landscape that goes from 700 to 1000 meter above sea level. We offer rooms with panoramic view, heated pool, outdoor whirlpool tub, playroom, events hall, bird’s garden, restaurant, bar and Spa.

Reviewed By lizlubeeWe stayed with our birding group just one night - but it was long enough to appreciate Kapari Lodge's commitment to customer service and to enjoy the space. We were met at the entrance gate and oriented to the grounds before being getting shown to our rooms. The pool/bar area is wonderful even if all you do is sit by the pool and sip your drink. The meals are well-prepared and very tasty and the rooms are modern and very spacious with a great view over the Rio Blanco. The bird feeding areas are a delight - and there are several of those on the property so be sure to locate them all. The walk "down the hill" on a forested path could have been dangerously slippy, but very tactile pavers are used on that trail and others around the property - it makes a huge difference. A very short but lovely stay!

Hacienda Rio Blanco is located an hour and a half northwest of Quito, Ecuador’s capital. It is situated at Km 57 on the Santo Domingo/Los Bancos Road (or at Km 4 if you are heading in the direction of Los Bancos/Santo Domingo). This area, which sits at 800 metres above sea level on the western slope of the Andes, is also crossed by the equator. The climate is perfect, with an average temperature of 24°C. Here, you will find one of the country’s biggest and most beautiful rivers, Rio Blanco, which runs parallel to the Rio Toachi, before arriving at the village of Valle Hermoso. Stay at Hacienda Rio Blanco for an unforgettable experience, filled with great memories.
Peaceful, beautiful nature,excellent cuisine
Reviewed By jplanzFor the second time in two years I have stayed at the hacienda Rio Blanco. Since then the surroundings have become even lusher, the cuisine is as excellent as last time, thanks to the Chef Emerson, and the new rooms are very cosy with lots of space.Possiblities of activities are plenty, there are even plans for a fitness trail. Yet it remains a peaceful laid back place.

Unparalleled beauty
Reviewed By Eliza P"El Encanto" was one of the stops for my group during our tour of Ecuador. The thirty of us rented the entire resort for two days, which gives you an idea of the size with which the staff had to work. Despite having only a few fluent Spanish speakers in our group, the staff was accommodating and eager to make our trip smooth and enjoyable. We received a fascinating demonstration on energy at the Equator and walked down a steep path through the forest to swim underneath a waterfall. The rooms were endearing for being in the middle of the rainforest, but hot showers and in room wifi are not a guarantee! Overall, this resort gave me one of the unique experiences of my life. We watched the clouds being born over breakfast and saw two species of toucans on our hike. We were so close to unparalleled beauty and so far from distractions of a big city. Please consider this resort when traveling to Ecuador; there are no words to describe how beautiful it truly is. Also, make sure to spend some time at our labyrinth which we installed on site to find peace at the middle of the world.

Great Birding Location near Mindo
Reviewed By Meredith JWe did not stay here in the lodge, but visited with a guide. to see the feeders. The Santa Rosa Feeder is often included in the list of birding locations around Mindo and is described as great for photographers. There are several feeding areas / hides- that attract different birds including the plate-billed mountain toucan. The feeder areas were created by the home owner who is a birder and photographer and the area is a paradise for birds created by a bird lover. We went early in the morning and that seems to be the ideal time. There is a hide that has white sheets and light that attract insects and early in the morning there is a great variety of birds. There is a hummingbird area and an area that attracts tanagers. There is another hide where the toucans visit and the whole area is set up to allow photographers to take great photos. We also enjoyed the coffee that the owner brought out for us. There is a tip box on the table with the coffee, and there may have been an admission cost that was included in the cost of our guide, we are not sure. We had a great time and the close up views of the toucan were super. This location is up a hill on a bumpy dirt road, we were glad we were with a guide to get there.

La ducha nunca salió un flujo constante ni la temperatura adecuada. Los bancos es una zona de muchos insectos y la ventana de la habitación tenia la malla dañada. El televisor se veía con lluvia todos los canales. El Wifi no llegaba a nuestra habitación que daba a la calle y era imposible dormir cuando pasaban buses o camiones. La chica de la recepción es amable
