Retrace the footsteps of the Maya, wander our extensive trail system and discover the unforgettable flora, fauna and Maya history unique to this tropical paradise. With an unparalleled abundance of wildlife(and the best chance to see the elusive jaguar in its natural habitat) Chan Chich is an extraordinary destination for naturalists, birders and for those seeking an authentic retreat to the jungle.

We (2P) stayed for 2 nights at Lamanai Landing and enjoyed our stay very much. The rooms are simply furnished, but have a large bed and before anything else a balcony with a great view on a lagune. This lagune is also the place, where the tour to the Maya site Lamanai starts (directly at the hotel). We booked the Lamanai tour from the hotel and were super happy (ca. 3 h of boat cruise through the Crooked Tree Sanctuary with animal spotting and 2.5h at the Maya site). Also we did the 2h birdwatching around the hotel, which was a cool experience for us as usually-non-birdwatchers. We can definitely recommend booking the tours offered by the hotel. The meals in the hotel restaurant were tasty. Not the cheapest ones (to be honest, we did not compare within the area, so this is more like a feeling), but overall fine. If you are looking for a hotel with good and uncomplicated service, a great atmospheric balcony and an excellent tour offering, this is the place to stay!

El Gran Mestizo is located on the outskirts of Orange Walk, on the banks of the New River. We offer Standard Cabins and Premium Cabins in a rustic, romantic and luxurious theme. Maracas Bar and Grill is located on the property and serve lunch and dinner Thursdays to Sundays. If your reservation is on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, Please check in at Hotel de la Fuente for the keys and a map of the town with restaurant recommendations. We will also make transportation arrangements for you to the property which is 8 minutes away from the hotel. Bicycles and canoes are available to guests if they wish to take the short ride to town. Birders welcome! Early morning is the best time on the property. If you've got nothing to do, come to do it here with us!
This is our first visit was very excited especially after the disappointing lunch meal at the nearby Maracas Restaurant. Unfortunately the the pool had algae all on the sides of the pool- risk of ear, skin and eye infection! So that was definitely a No no for us! Better maintenance definitely required for the pool. Please make this a priority. The rooms were very clean and some nice decorations greeted us on the beds. It came with a bag of plaintain chips and water with coffee maker and it’s ingredients. Also Nice! We really appreciate the gestures! Thanks guys! We opted to pay the extra for the small refrigerator amenity, which was also fine. However, the beds need new mattresses as we felt the spring through all night, unfortunately my sleep was terrible. Also a small chair somewhere could be helpful.

What a great discovery! The location is spectacular for tourists who are seriously interested in nature. The cabanas are very comfortable and clean. The staff was extremely kind & helpful. The meals focus on traditional Belizean food. Our primary interest was birding and we were assigned an outstanding guide. We highly recommend this lodge and hope to return some day.
