Top notch, pet friendly facility

We were thrilled with our stay at the Middlebury Inn! The pet friendly rooms in their annex are perfect for travelers with pets. The rooms were very clean and spacious with direct access to the outdoors. Our Westie was provided with yummy biscuits and a special blanket to use during his stay. Unlike many other hotels, you can leave your pet in the room while you are gone as long as they are well behaved, i.e. quiet and respectful. A small pet fee is charged and I would recommend that you book early for one of these specific rooms.

Waybury Inn

The Waybury Inn is known not only for its role on the Bob Newhart Show, but also for its extraordinary dining options and beautiful accommodations. The Waybury Inn's thirteen guest rooms are decorated with a little whimsy and provide all of the comforts expected in today’s lodging. It is true that we are over 200 years old, but we have spent the last ten years renovating and decorating to offer the best blends of historic charm and comfortable surroundings. Dog-friendly accommodations, deep claw-foot bathtubs, free wireless internet, a dedicated guest PC, and a full service bar are just some of the amenities we offer. All of our guests also enjoy a complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast each morning.

Quiet and Cozy Historic Inn

Friendly staff are happy to tell you about the inn and things to do in the area. For Newhart fans, just ask and they'll take your picture in front of the Stratford Inn sign and show you other things related to the show. The rooms are quiet and delightfully themed. Breakfast and dinner were excellent every day I was there. Lots of historic photos and artwork on the walls in the common area. A shout out to Amy and Bri for answering questions and great service.

Do not visit this place until it is renovated. Needs AC and Hot water.

I would have given this a Hotel a terrible rating but I have to point out that the staff was courteous and understanding considering that they had to repeatedly apologize for a a malfunctioning hotel. My issue is that the hotel assigned rooms that were not ready to be utilized. That being said the hotel is dated and poorly maintained regarding air conditioning and hot water. We had to change rooms 3 times on the first night, due to lack of hot water in each room. Apparently, this had been a problem but rooms were still assigned. Another issue was that the AC was not running in the eventual room and maintenance was only able to address it the next day, leading to a difficult sleepless night. Again, if the AC was not running in a room, it should not have been assigned. Also, I find it hard to believe that other hotels have 24/7 coffee available for free, yet this one charges for it. I have found hotels that charge less with free breakfast and in fact booked one such hotel after having to leave this one due to the lack of hot water being appropriately addressed. Perhaps maintenance was so overwhelmed that the technician did not remain in the room long enough after allegedly fixing the hot water to determine that it would run cold in less than 5 minutes. I would not return unless the hotel is completely renovated and updated. Start with updating the thermostats which seemed valid from the 1970's. Also, the rooms need to be aired out properly, as it was evident that one of the 3 rooms that I was shuttled to on the first and only night had smokers in it previously. It should not have been offered until completely aired out.

Middlebury Sweets Motel

We are a small 10 room motel located in the heart of Vermont between Rutland and Burlington. We bought the property December 2017. We will be moving our candy store to the motel April 2018 . The rooms have just been redone January of 2018 with new beds, furniture, bedding and cutrains. The carpet, walls and bathroom were remodeled in 2015.

For the price, great place to stay

Blanca and staff were very easy to work with and quick to respond to questions. It's a motel type accommodation. Building on older side but rooms were clean and efficient. Great part of motel type of rooms is that you can park your car right up against your door and easily unload or load your car. There is closet size room for their "breakfast." Basically it's big enough for a refrigerator and you go inside and pick up individually wrapped breakfast food and bring back to your room to eat. I give them bonus points for trying to do a little extra for their guests. It's not the fanciest of places to stay but price was great and convenient. When you leave property and make right turn, it's 2 miles to center of Middlebury. If you make left turn, it's about 10 miles to Middlebury Snowbowl for skiing.
