Rhins of Galloway is perfectly located beside the A77 connecting Cairnryan and Stranraer, just 1 mile south of Cairnryan P&O ferry terminal and 2 miles south of the Stena Line Cairnryan ferry terminal. The Merchants House is a traditional property built in 1701. Situated on the shore of Loch Ryan, approximately 1/2 mile from P&O ferry terminal, we are conveniently located for guests travelling to Ireland. On 1st floor we have 2 comfortable en-suite family rooms and a further double room with shared bathroom. All bedrooms have colour TV, tea/coffee making facilities and hairdryer. We also have a licensed restaurant and bar on the ground floor.
We stayed for one night before catching a ferry the next morning. The hosts were very welcoming and the room clean and comfortable. Fiona cooked us wonderful fish and chips for dinner and our breakfasts were very good.

Beautiful setting. Fantastic service. Would recommend without any reservations at all. We only stayed one night but would happily stay much longer. Breakfast was excellent value and quality with local ingredients.

Our historic village house was built around 1700 and in the past has been the village inn.We have recently finished a full refurbishment to give our guests the best of both worlds modern shiny bathrooms warm controllable energy efficient heating with spacious light rooms furnished with character pieces of unusual and interesting furniture. We are situated between the two ferry terminals so we are very convenient for either the Stenaline to Belfast and P&O to Larne. Early breakfasts are no problem - just let us know at check in and we can either supply a packed breakfast to take with you or a cooked breakfast at the Merchants House. There are lots of things to in this beautiful part of Scotland. Bird watching around the Loch or a trip to Ailsa Crag to see the gannets. There are botanic gardens to visit, castles and harbours and the food is renowned for its excellent quality. 2 Michelin Star restaurants are within a 20 min drive of The Auld Cairn. If you are visiting the area for a holiday of passing through on your way to or from Northern Ireland why not treat yourselves to a night at the Auld Cairn? You won't be disappointed.
A lovely guest house with a fabulous view and friendly, helpful bubbly host. Stayed overnight as early morning ferry which is less than 5mins from the guest house. Our room was a very generous size. Bear in mind though that nearby shops shut fairly early
