Searching for the pampering of a lifetime or just a spot to lay your head until you are back on the Katy Trail? Hoefel Haus has you covered! Suites furnished with Sleep Number king-sized beds, luxury linens, heated tile floors and generous soaking tubs. Farm-to-table offerings upgrade the extraordinary talent of the Chef! Our bike hostel features economy lodging with add-ons to meet every need!
We stayed at the Hoefel House after a long day cycling the Katy Trail. Peggy, who recognized that we were exhausted, was so welcoming. Within minutes it was clear that this was a special B&B operated by special people. Peggy and Kurt recently renovated the house. The cycling decor and original art work are fun and creative. We stayed in the spacious "train" room which has a 4 post Cal King Sleep Number mattress that was super comfortable. We heard about the amazing breakfasts that Kurt prepares on the weekends, but we stayed midweek yet still enjoyed a delicious breakfast to power us through another day riding the Trail. The Hoefel House is everything you hope to experience when you stay at a B&B. Don't miss staying here.

Didn't stay in the hostels accommodation as we had a tent and the host was kind enough to let us use our tent for a better rate as we were on a budget. He honestly couldn't do enough for us and he made our stay worth while. It's only a short drive in to the town to pick up some stuff. Breakfast was great! Had so much choice. If I'm ever back in joplin I'd stay here

Great place for events from birthdays, weddings, family reunions or group get togethers. Beautiful place with a lake and animals. Owners are very sweet and accommodating. They also offer a B&B of sorts in part of the barn. Clean and kept up nicely.

I lived here in the rear building, on top of the hostel's living room, in the mid 90s. It looked the same as on the current pics here. A very cool place if your view aint spoiled by living in a lot of civilisations trash. And a safe space, Soulard bars, common ground meeting house and community cleaners shop around the corner and I could safely ride my bike to Venice Cafe and cherokee rd and to work downtown. back then, some folks got robbed on their footpath from downton, the big projects already mostly boarded up (now long time torn down) but still having a phillipines christian sisters medical station there where I could get free medical support when I needed. Still my fav hostel, I kind of go for the name also. Good people.

This was the worst hostel experience I have ever had and I have visited multiple hostels. On my first night, she changed my room from the one I had originally booked, changing her supposed advertised co-ed rooms into gender specific rooms. This would have been acceptable if not for the fact the room I was switched to had a person who stenched of extreme body and foot odor that other roommates had complaints about. She would not budge about giving me my originally reserved room. Moreover, after accepting the room she had given me and sleeping in the bed the first night, I came back to the hostel the next night to find that she had given my bed to another traveler. Forcing me to yet again switch beds and move my belongings. Her hostel is completely unorganized and she can't get any of her reservations right. If I could give 0 stars. I would. Would definitely not recommend this hostel to anyone. The host is rude, obnoxious, and inhospitable. Spend the extra money for a better place in Kansas city.
