What a fab find in Schalkwijk! Its got a very English pub feel to it - both from the decor and the menu. Excellent choice of good value food and beer.Can recommend the Tinus toastie - a double decker toastie with pulled pork, bacon, cheese and onion. Definitely the best toastie I'v e ever eaten!

The hot wings were excellent, both the spicy and the non spicy variant. My friends all loved them, although I prefer it a bit drier, but that's just my personal preference.

Went to this place with my wife, two kids and parents in law. The second time there and definitely not the last.I had a three course menu, carpaccio, calf entrecote and a limoncello tiramisu. The first two were amazing but the tiramisu could have been a bit better. My wife's tornedo was absolutely perfect and the ribs we ordered for the kids (1 and 2 years old) could not have been better. I had wine with my steak and I actually liked it very much that when I asked about red wine by the glass, they said they had merlot, cabarnet sauvignon and rioja. I didn't even ask which particular wines they were, because I had the feeling they really knew their wines. Needless to say, the rioja I got was exquisite.This place is also perfect for kids. It's located in a kind of a shopping center and you can choose to sit outside, inside the restaurant or inside the shopping center. On that side, there's a play area, which includes a bouncy castle. The most fun for my two year old though was to walk with his granddad up and down the escalators, which are not steps but flat. I can totally recommend this place to anyone passing through Houten. I'm definitely coming again the next time I'm in the Netherlands.

Een kippepan besteld vanwege het warme weer.Gedaan via het web. Alles is goed doorgekomen. De producten zijn goed gekoeld. De pan is ook helemaal schoon. De producten liggen in een dikke aluminium schaal. Deze geleidt de warmte prima. Wat wel een ding blijft is het omdraaien van de producten tijdens het opwarmen. Omdat er ook kleine kinderen mee aten was de pikante kip iets te pittig. volgende keer zou ik alles zoet vragen. De pittigheid kan dan op tafel zelf bijgevoegd worden. Ik weet alleenniet of dit makkelijk mogelijk is omdat deze mogelijkheid niet aangegeven staat op de site. Misschien een idee? De smaak was verder goed. Iedereen was tevreden.

Based on reviews here in TripAdvisor I went there for some seafood. We got a nice table by the window, the restaurants cat was resting in the window, very friendly and relaxed. I asked for âProeverij Het Zuiden â Several Fishfilletâ and my friend went for âDry Age Rib-Eyeâ. Both where very good, the service was excellent and atmosphere great on a Friday evening. Prices are reasonable.
