Fascinating limestone hills and towers lure tourists from China and around the world to this city of 630,000. Popular sights include 120-hectare Seven Star Park, Reed Flute Cave, 200-foot high Fubo Hill and the much-loved Elephant Trunk Hill. Guilin is very popular as a starting point for Li River cruises to Yangshuo and for visits to the nearby minority villages of Yao, Miao and Dong. April, May, September and October are the best months to visit, as they avoid the extremes of heat and rain.

At a height of 722 feet, this is the tallest hill in Guilin offering some of the best views for viewing and photographing the city.
The ticket office was closed and we did not have to pay to go up. They did however take our temperature and we had to show our passports. Having experienced it for free, I would still pay to go up, it was fun and worth the climb! We took a different route up and came down a different route. You get to see different things as you meander around the hill. Enjoyed very much! We even saw a man swimming in the Li river. If you look closely you can spot him in the third photo. Lovely way to spend 1.5 hours, highly recommend.

Rising more than 213 meters in elevation from the west bank of the Lijiang River, this hill offers superb views from its summit.
If I remember correctly, I was there in Oct 2011, problem with your selection date. Guilin is one of the most scenic and beautiful part of China, from the river cruise to the Fubo Hill and the caves. It is a very enchanting place.

Resembling an elephant drinking water from the Li River with its long trunk, this hill towers more than 55 meters above the water.
A fairly easy walk to the top with a stop off to the cave that goes through the hill. The cave is the eye of the elephant. Good views from the top where there is an ancient structure shaped like an upside down pot. lots of history and things to take in on a restful afternoon. Great place to propose, haha.

Located in the center of the city, this 216-meter hill affords sweeping views of Guilin, the Lijiang River and the surrounding peaks.
The Solitary Beauty Peak is beautiful mountain next to a Ming Dynasty 650 year old mansion. It is located in a prominent tourist area in Guilin, within 20 minutes walk from the shopping district Zhengyang Street. I was expecting a commercial tourist site and I was not disappointed. But I am surprised that it can be fun too. They manage to make history fun while preserving the heritage. At the entrance, the guide will inform you which step to walk based on customs. The museum is forgettable. But the fun starts after that. After you finish the tour of the mansion, you will be led to a cave where there are exciting activities like taking the scholar test in front of crew dressed as scholars, and a section in of the cave for you to find your horoscope. Finally there is a climb up the peak where you get a very nice view of the city. It is a nice morning to spend the day and its a highly recommended visit for individuals, families and friends on holiday.
