A Traditional Village Pub resurrected and run by it's community. The story so far⦠âThe greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its membersâ The Shoulder of Mutton pub, originally built in 1468, has been refurb
The Shoulder of MuttonLittle Horwoodb.1468 d.2016If you have tears, prepare to shed them now. It is my sad duty to report that, after a prolonged and painful absence, the Shoulder no longer exists as the typical village hostelry that it has been for most of its 548 years. Whilst the body is intact, the heart and soul have been ripped out. We now have a white-painted building, both inside and out, and an interior reminiscent of something between a warehouse and a secondhand shop. âShabby chicâ or âdistressedâ could be used to describe both the décor and my emotions. With no bar, no draught beers and a very limited range of organic-only products, it certainly cannot be described as a village pub. In my opinion, Little Horwood is a poorer place today.RIP and farewell to a very old friend.
