Find out what Gastropub restaurants to try in Matera. Get to Matera quickly, because it’s still relatively undiscovered by foreign tourists. In town, visit the Domenico Ridola National Museum. Matera’s real claim to fame, though, and the reason it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the extensive series of cave dwellings ("i sassi") southeast of town, first inhabited by Benedictine and Basilian monks. You’ll see individual cells, chapels, and even some churches, many adorned with Byzantine decorations and frescoes.

We had salads (you select the ingredients), focaccia, and house wine for â¬15.50 - a steal. The marinated vegetables for the salad were flavorful, the house was a great mellow red, and the bread was soft with a tasty and lightly herb infused. It was a nice cool break eating inside on a warm day. Highly recommended.

Gastropub :blend of gastronomy and pub . An italian public house that specializes in serving high-quality food and beer.
The restaurant is located in one of the Sassi di Matera caves and being there is already a great experience. In addition, the food is excellent, as well as the service .

Street food and traditions to treasure, eating and drinking well, are at the core of our project. Pettolino is a quality brand, a brand made in Italy. Pettola or fried dough, is a simple tasty and flexible product, always the protagonist of the Mediterran
Not many places open on Maters this time of year, so we booked online and it was all fine. Nice place, not very busy, but had a few family groups. Nice 'Pettolino' starter comes free, and then we had the cassette of 4 starters. Followed by generous serves of pork shank and slow cooked pork. Wine by the bottle was good value. Our waiter was great and happy to explain the fully Italian menu. Would return.

The location in the old part of Matera is great and the atmosphere around is lovely, the food is good. The service can for sure be improved as it looks a bit confused, but the overall evaluation is good for an average price meal.
