Reviews on Fusion food in Mazunte, Oaxaca, Mexico. Mazunte is a small beach town on the Pacific coast in Oaxaca, Mexico (15°39′53″N 96°33′14″W / 15.66485°N 96.55388°W / 15.66485; -96.55388). It is located 22 km southwest of San Pedro Pochutla on coastal Highway 200. Mazunte is located some 10 km to the west of Puerto Angel and just about 1 km from San Agustinillo and 264 km south of the capital of Oaxaca. There are two etymologies for the name. Some sources state that “Mazunte” is derived from a Nahuatl phrase, “maxotetia” which means “please deposit eggs here.” However, older residents of the community state that it is from the word “mizontle,” used by locals to refer to a crab species that used to be very abundant in the area.

Were able to grab a table for two amongst many reservations and waiting bigger groups (worth making a reservation). Octopus pasta was outstanding, chipotle-spiced pasta was good but not great. Choice of red wine by the glass of Chilean Carmenere or Italian Montepulciano; of which the montepulciano was nice if not slightly overpriced. Tiramisu dessert was excellent. Would definitely go back.

They have a few seats with a good view of the beach. They have 2-4-1 cocktails starting at 5:00 PM. They make a very good Mezquito (mezcal mojito).Unfortunately, they allow smoking, so it's annoying for non-smokers.

Spent the night here people watching, enjoying the cute wooden building, and awesome music. And the food was amazing! Everything was made from scratch right there and was delicious! We got the hummus and falafel plate as well as the lemonade with ginger and chia. If you want something different, definitely try this place!
