We had a lovely dinner composed of 4 courses (the 5th course is a platter of cheese).Inclusive the adapted wines, water and coffee we have been served for 165⬠for two.The chef is able in a creative way to make excellent combinations with fresh ingredients.Portions are rather small but delicious. Service is impeccable. The terrace is nice and quiet although in the city centre. A lunch is served daily at a reasonable rate of 35â¬. Or a 1 course lunch costs 22â¬.Yes, this is a nice place.

Ever eaten a great steak cooked on a wood-fire? Well, if you like this, you should try out this lovely and cosy place close to Geraardsbergen. Free and Annemie are no-nonsense hosts and will welcome you wholeheartedly.Not a lot of choice but the meat is just fantastic and the fries perfect. Also, the side-salad is a nice treat. Oh yes, and if you don't know 'Orange', just check out the statue in front of the restaurant, of one of the famous stallions that was at the base of the typical 'farm horse' race with the big feet...

G.L.I.S.S. is gelegen in de dorpskom van Nieuwenhove, een onooglijk gehucht in Geraardsbergen. Het ligt zo afgelegen dat er noch gsm-, noch internetbereik was.Het restaurant zit in een oude, statige villa en ook het ietwat ouderwets interieur ademt dat verouderde karakter uit, ook al omdat het er vrij donker is. Verder wel netjes gedekte tafels, eigenaardig genoeg met stoelen met wieltjes onder.De kaart biedt één menu of je kan ook kiezen voor de Chefâs choice.De bediening is gereserveerd, op het afstandelijke af. De gerechyen en de aangepaste wijnen worden wel voorgesteld maar het lijkt iets te veel op de les opzeggen.We kregen vijf amuses vooraf en die voorspelden heel veel goeds, echt smaakbommetjes en zeer gevarieerd.Maar de tegenstelling met het voor- en hoofdgerecht was groot want beide vielen echt niet in onze smaak. Daarenboven werden beide lauw geserveerd. Dat werd enigszins gecompenseerd door het dessert en het kaasbordje maar toch was het geheel niet op niveau en zeker niet in balans.De geserveerde wijnen waren heel lekker en ruim voldoende.Heel net sanitair.Prijs-kwaliteit ok indien de twee gangen op niveau zijn geweest, wat niet het geval was.

We tried to book a table several times at this restaurant but it was always fully booked. Now I understand why! It is a cosy, romantic, but not only couples orientated old-times type of place with a lot of little secrets. Your food is going to be freshly made so expect a little bit of waiting time, but as soon as you have your order, you ain't going to regret the waiting time. I ordered a curry dish; was slightly afraid of being too hot/chilly but it was actually just perfect. The quantity is also just enough. There is an outside terrace also just behind the building, hidden from the eyes of people. Perfect place to enjoy a summery evening with some friends. Something that people don't really like to talk about but I really find it useful and a great idea: the toilets. At first they look a bit 'broken down' but they are clean, functional and they have a small basket (in the ladies room) with special women intimacy products for those in urgent need. I found this a extraordinary idea; knowing myself: you can't fight against nature, there is nothing worse than ruining your perfect evening with an unwanted spot. This place will help you enjoy the evening further spotless :).
