Loira Vines

We are a small family owned vineyard who offer wine and cider tastings at our cellar door. Come and taste our cool climate wines and bottle fermented ciders whilst overlooking our platypus pond and take in the beautiful surroundings. Lunch will be available towards the end of Dec 2018/beginning on Jan 2019, featuring local produce and tasty flavours. This will be served up in our new cellar door and kitchen.

Sadly, it takes a couple of rehomed mainlanders to demonstrate to the locals just how utterly superb a cellar door experience should be. In all my years of showing friends around the region, I have NEVER seen a better platter or tasting! Focussing on fresh, seasonal and utterly local produce, the Loira Vines platter showcased northern Tasmania from every aspect of aqua and agriculture, complimented perfectly with knowledgeable, witty and gently educational tasting range. Divine green sward dining in the dappled shade, frogs in the dam, kids playing with the sprinkler and damned fine wine, cider and beer. Thank you Adrian, for the smallest cellar door on the Tamar, you've raised the standard impressively. Definitely coming back!!!

Swinging Gate Vineyard

Being wine-tour virgins, it was great to be welcomed by Doug, his daughter and their dog Nellie. There was a lot of wine to be tasted, that was cool. Their Puddin wine is something else! It was nice to learn a lot about the history and how the local vinyards work together and help out each other. Makes it even more enjoyable.

Moores Hill Estate

Tasmania's first 100% off grid winery. Visit our cellar door in the Tamar Valley. Our vines are tended by hand to produce delicious wines. Enjoy tasting Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Caberner Merlot, chat about cool climate wines. While we don't have a restaurant we offer tasting plates that showcase Tasmanian produce. Relax on the verandah with a glass of wine.

Many thanks to Kim and Fiona( I think I got the names right) and OTTO the dog for our lovely lunch and wine experience. Recommended to us by Lou at Stoney Rise wines ( also excellent wines) as a good lunch place, our meal was totally what we hoped for. With 3 choices of platters- cheese, charcuterie or seafood, we chose the cheese with a veal sausage. Delicious- 1/2 dozen Tassy cheeses, walnuts, honey comb, radish etc and crackers and bread- really hit the spot for a shared lunch- coupled with their superb Pinot Gris. We were so impressed we joined their wine club after tasting several top wines. A delightful pastoral scene in a finery which is now totally off the grid- well done! We will be back for sure next time in Launceston!
