Do stop at this very special visitor's center on your way in to Kinston! Having been to many visitor's centers in our travels, we were expecting to find just the usual selection of maps and brochures. Instead, there is much more here. We were treated to the amount of information and exhibits one would find in a small museum. There is also a special lighted map tracing the positions of opposing troops in the Civil War battle which occurred in the area. Recovered artifacts from the local area are on display, too. There are also the cleanest restrooms that we have found anywhere. A stop here, followed by one at the CSS Neuse Ironclad Interpretive Center in town, will provide a wealth of information to visitors.
