Queen Victoria granted John Septimus Roe 4,000 acres on the Swan River for services rendered to the British Crown. He planted the first vines in the Swan Valley in 1840. In terms of its contribution to Australian wine making, the Swan Valley ranks alongside the Barossa Valley and the Riverina. The Swan Valley has many more products apart from wine, such as the plump watermelons grown between the vines and a Swan Valley specialty, the luscious table grapes, full of fruit and flavor

Make a pitstop at the award-winning Swan Valley Visitor Centre and our friendly staff will help you get the most out of your Swan Valley sojourn. We’ve been voted the best Visitor Centre in the state at the 2017 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards AND we scooped gold as the best Visitor Centre in Australia at the prestigious QANTAS Australian Tourism Awards. We'd like to think these plaudits have a lot to do with our wide knowledge and helpful hints. We know the Swan Valley inside and out and back to front, and can tell you all the hidden nooks and crannies, the award winners, the family friendly, the romantic spots, the natural wonders and the many interactive experiences on offer. We’re here to answer any questions, allay any concerns and assist you with advice, maps and brochures. And we're open Monday to Sunday all year round, from 9am to 4pm (closed Christmas Day).
This visitors centre is over and above any we have been in touch with in this state These girls are awesome What can I say ... second time we have been there and they are an asset to their region. So much time was taken to help us and as a result my sister and I had the best time. I can’t remember the lady’s name but she will know ... we thank you Highly recommend calling in there before you head into the valley ????

Explore the history of our town - on foot. Established on what is virtually an island encircled by the Swan and Helena Rivers, Guildford is ideally suited to exploration on foot. To assist you in discovering the numerous fascinating historic buildings, lively characters and wonderful stories of this 'island village' three new heritage walk trails (with 35 interpretive panels) have been built. Each trail starts and finishes at the Old Guildford Courthouse (Visitor Centre).
