Cobham Wood and Mausoleum

Reviewed By pheebzee - Gillingham, United Kingdom

Went for a walk in autumn sunshine! It was a lovely day with the sun shining, was just jumper and jeans weather, but I wore trainers and the pathways are very muddy! Went in from bligh side and took a different path than usual which took us to alpacas, turning left from there we found our usual pathway and made it to the mausoleum. It was after 3pm and I was surprised it was quiet, barely anyone around. Very peaceful!

Ashenbank Wood

Reviewed By d1ssolve - Kent, United Kingdom

i feel ashenbank often gets overlooked for shorne country park, which i find to be a massive shame. ashenbank is a beautiful woodland with an interesting history and is a great dog walk, with a variety of route lengths so something for everyone. there are signs saying there are cows grazing in the woods but i've never been fortunate enough to see them. my dad and i have visited several times in all seasons, would recommend!

Jeskyns

Community Woodland open to the public, managed by Forestry England for the benefit of people, wildlife and the environment.

I visit this park to go running with the dogs and think it's a great place. Parking available, at a cost and bring pennies cos the app rarely works. Cafe in hand for drinks and food. Plenty of space and varying terrains to walk, whether on one's own, with friends, kids or dogs. Some kiddie play spaces. Enclosed areas where dogs can run free of owners are wary of recall. Fields, orchards and woodlands.

Darnley Mausoleum

Reviewed By Y6515JAbobm - Gravesend, United Kingdom

A tree trail is almost completed taking the visitor around Cobham woods, passing some beautiful historic trees. A leaflet is being produced for the visitor giving details of the trees. The Mausoleum is set in a magnificent wooded area on the North Downs. The Highland and Dexter cattle grazing in the area enhance the experience. Be aware that the Mausoleum and associated South Lodge Barn are only open on selected Sundays in the April to September season. Check the National Trust website for dates. Cobham woods and the Mausoleum are free. It really is well worth a walk.
